The presence of two foreign women who appear to be living on the streets is raising questions among residents, who are calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give an account for the pair.

Almost two weeks ago, the two women – who are rumoured to be Vietnamese nationals – were first spotted in front of the Adele School, sitting on the sidewalk, in what many describe as a disheveled state.

As the days wore on, residents saw them resting in a bus shelter opposite the YASCO facility on Old Parham Road, and they were also spotted in the West Bus Station, although not waiting for transport.

Residents became concerned since the pair always appeared to be wearing the same dirty clothing and, reportedly, had begun to carry an odour.

One person tells REAL News that concerns were raised with officials of the Immigration Department, who are said to have stated that the women are citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. This has led to others asking whether their status is by way of the Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP).

There are claims – allegedly by the women – that they are on the streets because their belongings have been taken away, although they did not say how or by whom.

Meanwhile, some persons are asking why the authorities have allowed apparent foreign nationals to add to the number of locals who already are homeless and sleeping on the streets and in other public places.

The latest claim is that the two have been sleeping at the international airport, which reportedly is sparking alarm among security personnel there.

“The Police hardly allow you to park to pick up passengers,” one resident complains to REAL News, “so how anybody who is not traveling could be allowed to sleep on the airport compound?”

Another one declares, “We have enough homegrown problems already. We certainly don’t need to be importing any more….”

Accordingly, concerned citizens are asking the authorities to look into this matter and correct it as soon as possible.

  1. Alleged. Alleged. Why would an apparent News Source report this? Real News is a real joke. There are more questions than answers. This sounds like a Nancy Story for the National Enquirer.

  2. And how are they going to correct this problem with these two homeless females, give them housing and belongings?

Well if that’s the fix, then every other homeless person in Antigua is entitled to the same.

But hey, this is the same Government who brought a 1000 illegal immigrants, only for them to disappear in thin air.

So I’m not even surprised if this Gatson Browne slack immigration policies didn’t fail here again.

    What’s new?

  3. Antigua and Barbuda have citizens from all around the world.I do not know. Why those two ladies ended up in Antigua.Vietnam is a growing Country.Their economy is growing very fast in most areas of wealth. Many countries are now sourcing their imported products from VIETNAM instead of CHINA.

  4. Then all Antiguans over the world who are homeless should be treated the the same i tell you eh black people eh. Give them a ticket to go back home am sure they would accept or put them up in your home.

  5. Sometimes the rubbish ya’ll come here to report is just that, rubbish. What is this to be talking about? If it’s so troubling to you, carry dem home and board them! Small mindedniss dis!

    • It is coming from UPP “media”house. What else do you expect???? Also, I don’t know what “outrage” they are talking about. Trying desperately to stir up people, but FAILING.

Turks Lee FLAP NO WAH!!!! Gemma Handy right to ignore the attention-starved clown!

  6. Wait is only now they noticed these two women?? They have been here since September month, walking up and down the airport road, I thought at first they were going n coming from there home and didn’t want to take the bus. But then they started showing up at the airport, and in the same clothes. It was told that their passports and belongings were stolen. Idk by who or if it’s true. The best thing is. Have these ladies place in an home to shower and rest until their tickets are purchased to have them returned home. At the end of the day they are humans, and should be treated as such. Whatever misfortune they faced shouldn’t result in them being mistreated. Im sure with all they have endured they just wanna go home to their families

  7. No person or persons seem to have any factual information about these human beings. Yet there is a lot of speculation about these persons. One thing is certain that all of us will be judged by how we treat the least amongst us. It doesn’t appear that none of us saw it fit to bring this matter to the attention of the authorities. We prefer to bring it to the attention of the media. So the drama and melee goes on.

    • spoken like a true UPP inbreed! ÜPP’s ambassador Bruce Goodwin already said the same thing about “foreigners”

PAUPERS, PAUPERS, PAUPERS….that’s what he called Jamaican and Guyanese

  8. This is Indeed News Worthy, as it highlights obvious loopholes/shortfalls in our Immigration, Border Security, & General Law Enforcement awareness, monitoring, & controls.
Most commentators do actually provide some measure of factual information, in that they have actually been on island for Months; Do Sleep in the airport basically every night; Are Antiguan & Barbudan Citizens (by whatever means) etc. etc.
One error however, is that the Authorities are NOT aware of their presence nor situation. They seem to have opted to treat it with the usual local ‘Silent Treatment’ and pretend or hope that the Public either ignores or doesn’t notice at all.

    WELCOME TO ANTIGUA (Home) LADIES…!!!

  9. Sometimes we welcome Angels as visitors and we treat them badly and loose our blessings, leave them alone ,they are walking around peacefully admiring our beautiful City they are not cursing anyone they are not committing any crimes ,they are not cursing our Government or our PM just looking around our beautiful country leavebthem alone does their presence irritates our guilt of humanity Antiguans are always warm and welcoming don’t let us loose that and not be meek and mild fearing and loving God , leave them alone because they are not richly garbed as we like to see them they may still give us some to cherished that we can’t see leave them alone .

  10. If I were in Antigua,I would help them.I have many friends from Vietnam,Thailand and Cambodia.Perhaps Antigua News Room could have a talk with them and find out their issue and tell us.Set up a way for them to get help.
