A woman has taken the witness stand in the High Court to testify that two police officers raped her in 2017.

The officers face trial before Justice Ann-Marie Smith and a jury of five women and four men for an alleged attack on 12 May at Cooks.

The complainant told the court the incident followed an evening spent with a WhatsApp group that included the defendants.

She said she got into a vehicle with the men, who drove her to a secluded area, threatened her with a gun, and sexually assaulted her.

She described forced intercourse and other sexual acts, and said the officers threatened to kill her if she reported the attack.

Afterwards, she said she left the scene, went to a bar, and reported the incident to police the following morning. Police later recovered a wrapper and condom at the location.

She also described post-incident messages from the officers, in which one allegedly minimised the encounter and suggested it had been “planned” within the group.

During cross-examination, defence lawyers challenged details of her testimony, including whether the vehicle stopped and the complainant’s recollection of events, suggesting inconsistencies with her police statement.

The cross-examination continues.

  1. Hmmmmmm……Who u gonna call the Police?? We are the Police…..SMH…..Hope this story comes to light and if they are guilty they should go to 1735 not ABDF base….

  2. One question: why has it taken so long to bring this particular case to court? And why are so many important cases pushed to the back-burner?

Is our judicial system broken, or is it just a symptom of who you know in the higher echelons of society?

    I HOPE I’M WRONG …

  3. The corruption and all the cover-up must stop in Antigua..too many people’s lives are in the balance because they are holding secrets for people in high positions.

They already killed Asot, and there is more to come.

And yes @ Brix…Antigua has a broken justice system. These things are not ” one offs”, they happen on a regular basis on this tiny island. I have witnessed police abuse with my own eyes, and it is well within the purview of these officers to commit such malicious crimes.

Why you think it took this long? The thin blue line covers for one another. And I’m not blaming it on politics only, but these guys were put there to clean up the mess, and they have failed miserably.

Why you think the US report said that not one human trafficking case has ever brought forth in Antigua, the island with more young women selling their bodies than what John can read about?

  4. Eight years is far too long for a rape case to reach trial. Justice delayed is justice denied…. both for the alleged victim and the accused. Our system needs reform so cases like this don’t languish while lives are put on hold.

  5. It’s troubling that such a serious case involving police officers took more than eight years to reach trial. Justice delayed is justice denied both for the complainant and for the accused. The system clearly needs reform to prevent this kind of dela

  6. Let’s go to the DNA! Not the defunct political party but at the forensics lab in the cell-cultured dish.
If found guilty will they be serving their time at the Navy base BnB with daily supply of pussy and greasy kentucky?
The force is definitely in need of an ep as epsom salt purge according to the former PM Spencer!

  7. The other high profile case involving the alleged forgery of the Nation’s passport is another court case which is just if not more troubling, in terms of how the Cute one and the DPP’s office have dealt with it.

This particular case of the alleged rape is going forward probably because of the new DPP. I get a feeling that the new DPP has some gumption.
