A woman from Gray’s Farm, Shadesha Phillip, has been sentenced to two years in prison for attempting to rob the Golden Grove Service Station.
The incident occurred on 24 June 2021, when Phillip, then in her early twenties, and an accomplice wearing a mask confronted a female pump attendant. Police arrived during the attempted robbery, prompting a shootout in which Phillip was injured in the leg and arrested.
Her accomplice escaped. Security footage of the incident was later released to the public.

Even woman doing robbery,I know things are hard but people keep forgetting there’s a God above, larceny is never the answer
Atleast she pleaded guilty, that helped her alot with the sentence.I hope she learned because believe it or not people can change
Just that likkle bit ah time, stupid bitch
What’s the world coming to? That there is no woman! 😨
They should’ve given her 10years. DEM FI GO WORK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Too f***ing tief
Only two years she got. Wow. Well murderers walking so she might aswell
There is a big double standard in Antigua’s justice system. There are men out there who will do the same attempted robbery and get more time. She assisted another person who had a gun and she never gave up the other person. She should spend five years for strongarm robbery, because the other assailant utilized a gun in the process of a crime to rob the gas station. True double standard. She will get time served and probably spend six months and be back out there doing the same thing.
Wait did the magistrate forget that she did not disclose who was in the mask to give her his sentence also.
These magistrate are getting soft. Since she did not cooperate with the Popo she should have been rewarded with his sentence.
Where else in this world you get 2yrs for arm robbery and shooting at cops?
I don’t care if she wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger, if someone had died, she would have gotten charged for murder as well.
No wonder crime is out of control in this place. It took them four years to finished the case, just to only give her a slap on the wrist. She will be out in a year.
Soft arse judicial system we have here in Antigua. Criminals run the place, plain and simple.
Anarchy is the order of the day.
The criminals are laughing at this incompetent government. Meanwhile the PM is traveling the world begging for money talking about “climate Justice”..what happened to criminal justice?
Fooooools!!!
She should have gotten the other person sentence as well . And if shes a Antigua by birth assisting a non- national to rob, then her time should triple.
Why are these criminals getting a slap on their hands when sentence to jail. These petty sentences are an insult & disrespect to the public.
Anyone found with a firearm has intentions to take another persons life at some point. Our courts need a strong message to these criminals
Our judicial system is a joke. Since 2021 this happened and is now this case tried. That why people are getting off so easily because the gravity of the situation sometimes wears off. Take for example if there were a series of arm robberies taking place at that particular time in that neighborhood or in the country. That the citizens were afraid to venture outside because of these robberies. The judge might take a hard stance and give the maximum. On the other hand let’s say when in happy we basically had little or no crime, and this individual was remorseful, they could have gotten a lesser sentence. However because of the now killing of gas stations owner Charlie , the public would see this as a slap on the wrist. That why the Privy Council use to rule against execution of murders of heinous crimes. They had people on death row waiting sometimes for a decade. Justice must also be swift. Lots of people die in Antigua without getting justice because of the slowness of our court system. Can remember a female lawyer from Jamaica, working on this case and was encouraging her client to pay his opponent because he was in the wrong. The court took so long that she eventually got married and died. Similarly people dies before getting their settlement in industrial court for labor related matters both against the government and private sector.
Another case is that of the medical student that got run over on Friars Hill road. One died and the other a multiple amputee. What are the families of these young people saying. How much time must they fly to Antigua to hear the case is put off , over and over and over and over again.
No wonder why crime is out of control. The legal system sucks.
Ugly as jell
I said it before and I’ll say it again, anytime a gun comes into play into robbery ECT the full force of the law should be applied, not no little time..Me done say !
