Woman Dies Two Months After Sugar Ridge Golf Cart Crash

A 40-year-old woman has died nearly two months after suffering critical injuries in a crash at Sugar Ridge Resort.

Joanna “JoJo” Carlisle died on Tuesday after remaining in critical condition since May, when the golf cart she was driving was struck from behind by a car.

Following the crash, family and friends launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise €200,000—more than EC$615,000—to transfer Carlisle to a specialist hospital in Poland for advanced medical treatment.

In a statement announcing her death, Carlisle’s family thanked supporters for their donations, messages and prayers, saying the outpouring of kindness had been “a tremendous source of support” during the family’s ordeal.

The family also announced that the fundraiser’s purpose has changed. Rather than funding medical treatment, all money raised will now be used to support the education and future security of Carlisle’s children.

“We want to give them the best possible start and a sense of security for the years ahead—today, this is the most beautiful way to honor their mother’s memory,” the family said.

The circumstances surrounding the May collision remain under investigation.

I didn’t know the facts but all I know is the dangerous geographical layout of the roads, the DCA and it’s civil engineers and surveyors need to go work with some develop country to get internship, for instance you have a steep hill and the bulldozer just go and ascend straight up on the hill, instead of doing the right thing of making the road more spiral or like an “S” so that thread the hill horizontally and not vertically, when one look at the amount of accident that occur from Scotts hill road ascending into potters, and if you look around the surveyors still drawing plans for steep vertical roads up hillside, even on flat lands where the road should have a octagon corner to prevent blindspots and vehicular maneuvering angle at corners when it comes to large vehicles, I totally believe our people are intelligent yes, but the politics has forced a lot of people on our secondary schools and colleges that was politically instructed because of votes, then we keep this sort of incapable engineers and other technician that is creating these issues that cost life, look at the APUA engineers and tell me if they are even qualified to be a simple supervisor? Bring in experience people to impart skills to our university graduates.
