Woman Admits to Stealing $1,500 Cheque From Disabled Employer, But Police Investigation Stalls
A paraplegic man has accused one of his caretakers of stealing and cashing a $1,500 cheque — an allegation supported by an audio recording in which the woman admits to taking it.
The man reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department after discovering the cheque had been cashed at a local supermarket. Two officers were assigned to the case, but the victim believes the investigation has been compromised and alleges the officers may have personal ties to the suspect.
“I’m a paraplegic seeking justice,” the victim said in a written appeal. “CID was called, but from the beginning I feel like they’ve been trying to sabotage the case.”
A copy of the cheque and supporting evidence, including a video of the alleged theft, were seen by Antigua News Room. In the recording, the woman admits to taking the cheque, saying she “did it” because she was trying to help her sick father and that she “felt bad” for doing it.
Despite the evidence, the case has not advanced, and police have not released any official statement. The victim continues to call for a thorough investigation and accountability.

I had the same experience with the police. I had an accident and two police officers came on the scene. One had a relationship with the owner of the vehicle that struck my SUV while I was inside the business doing a transaction. Lo and behold the police report to my insurance stated that I was wrong. Noted my vehicle was parked in one of the allocated parking. Their vehicles got out of control and damaged my parked vehicle.
I walked until I was tired going to the traffic department. I now see this police officer, promoted with stripes. We promote corruption in Antigua.
If you admit stealing the cheque, the only way it didn’t go to the court is because the case was settled out of court. She admitted she stole the cheque. people must not comment on matter unless they know both side of the story
