WISH Welcomes 2025: A Year of Healing, Growth, and Community Empowerment

As the world ushers in 2025, the Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing (WISH) is proud to celebrate the strides made in mental health advocacy over the past year while looking ahead with renewed determination to break the silence and shatter stigmas around mental health in Antigua and Barbuda.

The start of a new year is a unique and powerful moment—a collective opportunity to reflect, reset, and reimagine. At WISH, we believe that 2025 holds immense potential for growth and healing, not just for individuals but for our entire community.

“Every new year brings the chance to reset, reflect, and recommit to what truly matters,” says WISH Founder Chaneil Imhoff. “Healing is not a straight path, but every step forward is a victory. In 2025, let’s walk that path together, with courage, compassion, and the unwavering belief that a healthier, happier future is within our reach.”

Imhoff’s words echo the spirit of unity and progress that drives WISH’s mission. Over the past year, WISH launched its official website and social media platforms on World Mental Health Day, providing a much-needed space for Caribbean-centered discussions about mental health and holistic wellness. The initiative also made significant contributions to advocacy, community outreach, and efforts to enhance mental health infrastructure in Antigua and Barbuda.

As 2025 begins, WISH is committed to building on this momentum. The organization is dedicated to expanding resources, fostering open dialogue, and championing mental health as an essential aspect of overall wellbeing.

Reflecting on the essence of the new year, key members of WISH share their perspectives:

  • Raisa Charles, Content Creator: “The new year is one of my favourite times of year. I can scarcely think of another period so ripe with raw potential. It’s a moment when the collective pauses to self-reflect and imagine a brighter future. The air is thick with positive intentions. How powerful!”
  • Makeida Antonio, Public Relations Officer: “As we close one chapter and prepare for a new year, may we reflect upon 2024 with an attitude of gratitude and be open to receiving all the blessings 2025 has to offer.”
  • Blaire Cornwall, Project Officer: “Tomorrow is a blank canvas; what matters most is not the brushes we hold, but the courage to make that first stroke. Let 2024 mould our minds and prepare us for the possibilities and opportunities of 2025.”

At its heart, WISH remains a movement born out of the need to provide a safe and supportive environment for mental health conversations. By prioritizing mental wellness and embracing a community-centered approach, WISH is revolutionizing how Antigua and Barbuda perceives, talks about, and cares for mental health.

“Our community is only as strong as the individuals within it,” says Imhoff. “When we prioritize mental health, we create a ripple effect of positivity that strengthens families, friendships, workplaces, and society as a whole.”

As we step into 2025, WISH invites everyone to join the mission of transforming mental health care into a normalized, celebrated, and essential part of everyday life. Let this year be the one where we take bold steps together to foster understanding, spread compassion, and inspire hope for a brighter, healthier future.

From all of us at WISH, we wish you a Happy New Year filled with peace, growth, and the courage to embrace your unique journey. Let’s make 2025 a year of healing, empowerment, and lasting change.
