WISH Mourns the Tragic Loss of Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone & Calls for Compassion and Action

The entire team at WISH – the Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing – joins the nation in mourning the heartbreaking loss of Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, loved ones, colleagues in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, and the Potters community as they navigate this devastating time.

Iyo Malone was more than a dedicated officer – she was a protector, a servant of the people, and a beloved member of our community. Her passing is a stark and painful reminder of the unseen burdens that so many carry, often in silence. This tragedy calls on us, as a nation, to confront the reality of mental health struggles with urgency, empathy, and action.

We acknowledge that, in the wake of her passing, speculation and assumptions have run rampant across social media. At WISH, we urge our community to honor her memory with dignity and respect. Instead of engaging in harmful gossip, let us use this moment to educate ourselves and extend grace to those who may be struggling. Every unkind word can deepen someone’s pain, and every act of compassion can be a lifeline.

Mental health is as real and critical as physical health, and no one is immune. It is time we normalize seeking support without fear of judgment. If you or someone you know is experiencing distress, please reach out. You are not alone. WISH remains committed to providing safe spaces for open dialogue, education, and support. Let us turn our grief into action by advocating for stronger mental health policies, accessible resources, and a culture of kindness.

To the family, colleagues, and friends of Senior Sergeant Iyo Malone – we stand with you in this time of sorrow. May her legacy inspire us all to do better, to be more understanding, and to uplift one another in love and support.

If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or seek professional help.

  1. Sometimes when you enter that dark place it is so difficult to come out. Not an easy thing to deal with.

  2. One of the contributors to poor mental health, is the cost of leaving and bulling. We walk around and behave so mean to each other.. the true meaning of serenity is being serene in-spite of conflict, it’s a everyday stuggle leaving on earth with all these MEAN Obnoxious people, 1 cure is to be kinder, Albert Einstein quoted the world will be destroyed, not by those who do evil but by those who watch and do nothing, also Maya Angelou Wrote and Said “Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in this world, but it has not solved one yet.”Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.”
“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. the desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.
To those who have given up on love, I say, Trust life a little bit. “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better. The question is not how to survive, but how to thrive with passion, compassion, humor and style.”
“When people show you who they are, believe them. Just like moons and like suns, with the certainty of tides, just like hopes springing high, still I’ll rise.”
“My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. This is a wonderful day. I have never seen this one ever before..
