WIOC to Increase Refundable Deposits on New LPG Cylinders from Feb. 1

The West Indies Oil Company Ltd. (WIOC) has announced an increase in the refundable deposit required for new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, effective Feb. 1, 2026, citing higher inflation-related costs from suppliers.

In a public notice, WIOC said the adjustment is driven by increased manufacturing, procurement and shipping expenses. The company stressed that the price to refill LPG cylinders remains unchanged and that the increase applies only to new LPG cylinders purchased through authorized distributors or directly at WIOC’s Friars Hill Road facility.

Under the revised rates, the deposit for a 20-pound cylinder remains unchanged at $100, with a refill cost of $32, bringing the total cost for a new cylinder to $142. The deposit for a 25-pound composite cylinder has increased from $125 to $150, with a $40 refill, resulting in a total cost of $190. For 100-pound cylinders, the deposit has risen from $250 to $275, with a refill cost of $155, bringing the total to $430.

WIOC said existing customers are not affected by the change unless they purchase a new cylinder. The company thanked the public for its understanding, noting its continued commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable LPG services.
