Prime Minister Gaston Browne attends World Government Summit in Dubai, UAE

Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne is today in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where he is attending the World Government Summit being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

 

The Summit, being chaired by H.E. Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, H.E. Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and Future and H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, will see Prime Minister Browne participating in the Global Energy Forum where he will lead discussions on Our Rising Blue Waters: Government Combatting Climate Change.  The discussion will also include The Hon. Wayel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles and His Excellency Faisal Naseem, Vice President of Maldives.

 

Prime Minister Browne stated that he is looking forward to participating in the Forum as it is of vital importance that the message of small developing states is heard.  “With the last seven years being the warmest on record, coupled with the rapid increase of extreme weather events, the impact of climate change is more visible than ever before,” he stated. 

 

He noted that the world’s landmasses are projected to sink in a matter of decades, posing an existential threat to the world’s lowest-lying countries today. “Island states are on the frontlines of climate change, where the effects of rising temperatures and sea levels demand innovative climate action,’ Prime Minister Browne remarked.

 

In his letter of invitation to the World Government Summit, Prime Minister Browne was acknowledged as a distinguished visionary and a beacon of change.  “ It is our honor to extend an invitation to you to share your expert insights at this momentous summit, joining global leaders, decision makers and trailblazers from over 190 countries to engage in a powerful discussion on shaping the future of governance and humanity as a whole.”

 

The 8th edition of the World Government Summit will be held exceptionally in tandem with the closing of Expo 2020 Dubai, the largest event of its kind that has brought the world together at a critical time in history. 

 

Alongside the summit, Prime Minister Browne, accompanied by wife and Minister for Housing, Land and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Maria Browne, will attend the Global Citizen Forum  high-level reception to further champion the mission to create a united, inclusive, and sustainable future for the  next generation. “As a key voice in empowering this ambition, we are delighted to invite you to join our global community for another exceptional experience,” the letter inviting Prime Minister Browne stated.

 

On Monday evening, Prime Minister Browne and Minister Maria Browne were special guests at the first international TIME 100 Gala where a number of global leaders including African billionaire philanthropist Tony Elumelu, beauty mogul Huda Kattan, international music star will.i.am and star actor Deepika Padukone were honoured with the TIME100 Impact Awards for building a better future.

    2) keep buying beach front properties

  4. I’m glad the chief servant, our Prime Minister, is looking after the interests of Antigua and Barbuda so well. He’s one of the best. Something that strikes me odd in this picture, however, is that he is the only one wearing a necktie, which he seldom wears at home. NONE of the others are wearing one. I just find it odd, don’t you? I’m just curious.

  9. Leadership really matters. Our Prime Minister has really represented our country well in these international forums. But as the saying goes, “A king is not honored in his own country”.

    • Sidelines:While in Antigua last year. I visited the Harbor Area,I did see small ships,medium ships and large ships. I looked around and could not find any Leadership. Could you tell me where to find it. Honor comes with respect of self and others.Gaston Browne does not meet that criteria in my opinion.

  11. I saw the PM and the minister of housing posing for photo up in Dubi. So what is wrong with the First Lady traveling with her husband. Nothing tall is wrong with that. In fact I support that and love that stately appearance with our PM and our beautiful First Lady and that should be encouraged. So that is why I am 1 million percent plus against her running for office and holding substantive ministry. This is the reason why she is always absent for her ministry. She is First Lady, a mother of a children and just cannot serve two master. Hence, she is failing miserably as a government minister. It is corruption to collect government money and don’t show up yo work. Guess you are collecting clothing allowance and traveling allowances also . Poor picky head, Red drinking Kool aid contractors not getting paid .
