WFP and CDEMA Offer Four-Day Logistics Training

1

A group of individuals from the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) and some of its local partners is taking part in an ‘Emergency Humanitarian Logistics Workshop which began today at the Antigua Air Station in Coolidge.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) are delivering the four-day training jointly with the aim to enhance the national and regional capacity in disaster preparedness and response.

During the workshop, participants will be exposed to essential training around logistics in emergency response operations.

They will also develop an understanding of how logistics fit into the larger CDEMA humanitarian aid framework to maximize its effectiveness in the region.

The workshop compliments logistics training, which was done in several islands last year, including Antigua and Barbuda.

Other countries in the region will benefit from these emergency humanitarian logistics workshops.

The World Food Programme works with regional and national partners in the Caribbean to facilitate rapid, effective, and coordinated response to shocks.
