The West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) has carried out a series of community-focused initiatives across Antigua and Barbuda as part of its Christmas outreach programme.

The company began its activities at the Paediatric Ward of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, donating functional appliances to support staff and improve care for young patients. The items were presented by WIOC’s Brand and Commercial Manager, Shari Dickenson, to Head of Paediatrics Dr Shalem Hughes and Unit Nurse Manager Zena Knight-Barnes.

Ms Dickenson said the donation was intended to assist with daily operations and encouraged other businesses to support national healthcare services.

WIOC also surprised customers at several of its service stations, offering a free fuel purchase to those who spent $50 or more. The initiative benefited around 300 customers.

In addition, company employees partnered with the Salvation Army, volunteering to support its Christmas fundraising efforts at First Choice Supermarket.

The programme concluded with the distribution of free LPG refills to selected community members.

WIOC said the activities form part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
