The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Women’s Selection Panel has announced the preliminary squad for the upcoming training camp ahead of the six-match series against Ireland Women.

The camp will take place at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia from June 14 to 21.

The focus will be on training, fitness, and strategic preparations for the three-match CG United One Day International (ODI) Series, which will be held from June 26 to July 1.

The preliminary squad consists of a blend of experienced players and promising young talents. Notable additions include Cherry-Ann Fraser, who returns after missing the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup due to injury, and Qiana Joseph, a left-handed all-rounder who showcased her skills in recent tournaments.

Additionally, several West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 players have been included in the squad, emphasizing CWI’s commitment to nurturing young talent and expanding the Women’s talent pool.

Ann Browne-John, CWI’s Lead Selector for Women’s cricket, expressed the significance of the series against Ireland in terms of building points for qualification to the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

She also highlighted the opportunity to provide exposure to younger players. The squad selection reflects a balance between youth and experience as CWI aims to shape the future West Indies team.

The official West Indies Women’s squad for the CG United ODI Series will be announced by the Women’s Selection Panel, with the T20I squad to follow.

The matches will all be held at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia, with the first ODI on June 26 and the last T20I on July 8.
