Watts suspects incidence of larceny is being downplayed so Administration can paint a rosy picture of economic situation

22

The incidence of acquisition crimes appears to have increased, but apparently is being under-reported by the Police, says Algernon “Serpent” Watts, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. George.

There are daily incidents of larceny, house and building break-ins and offences of robbery – in some cases totaling over 10 reports in one day – sources tell REAL News.

The number of larcenies of which he has heard is cause for alarm, Watts says – especially in a country as small as Antigua and Barbuda.

Watts says the Police are not alerting residents to the gravity of the crime situation and the need for securing themselves and their property.

Instead, he believes the Administration is trying to paint a rosy picture, since the Labour Party, when in opposition, blamed the crime rate on unemployment and poverty.

Meanwhile, the Police refuted Watts’ statements, saying that daily press releases go out to inform the public of the crime situation.

However, Watts rejected that response and said the communication was insufficient.- REAL NEWS

    • RESULTS FOR ELECTION 2023

      ABLP. 17 SEATS

UPP. 00 SEAT ( 10 candidates will lose deposits )

DNA. 00 SEAT ( ALL CANDIDATES WILL LOSE DEPOSITS)

      BARBUDA. 00 SEAT

      LANDSLIDE VICTORY FOR ABLP.

  1. SERPANT what is your suspicion regarding all those pie in the sky promises from the UPP. Do you suspect UPP is just dishing them out to try and convince voters to get in office and thereafter they will sing the expected chorus that nothing can be done since they did not know the treasury was that broke. Can you speak more as to that suspicion.

  2. SERPENT CHUPTZ. CHUPTZ. Serpent what about the one POUPA TREE on your farm. We shall kick your ARSE in St. George. Dean Jonas ALL THE WAY.

  3. “Watts says the Police are not alerting residents to the gravity of the crime situation and the need for securing themselves and their property.”

Wait….the police need to tell me to secure myself and my property? LOL Listen!

  4. I agree Mr Watts Sir, There’s been a marked increased in these type of crimes, and dare I say “political crimes”.

Desperation has crept into ABLP as the election draws near; however, they cannot turn the ever increasing tide of the populations awareness of their dereliction of care, duty and suffering for Antiguans.

ONCE THE UPP TIDE IS IN FULL FLOW, THE GAMES UP ABLP … WHERE’S MY BEER?

    • The current demise of the ABLP is giving me more ‘word salad’ and intense powerful lyrical formations – just beautiful!

  5. People please get it right. The Snake does not have any and any poopa tree on his farm. It is a MAN poopa tree which does not reproduce hence he aint contributing squat to food security: neither for himself or for the nation.

    • FROM GOOGLE: Male papaya trees can be identified by clusters of thin tubular flowers that grow at the end of branching stalks 5 to 6 feet long. Both a stamen, or male organ, and pistil, the female organ, are present in the flowers. However, the pistil isn’t functional, and the tree cannot produce fruit.

      • Not everything on Google is true. The man poopa tree as you call it does bear fruit. Plant the seed from that fruit and when it produces, broadcast it to all. God’s work.

  6. A double murder added to the growing list of murders this year. Instead of agitating for better patrolling, proper lighting and improvements in our overall safety and protection, the kool aid drinkers are fighting Serpent. Whether we like him our not the crime situation is out of control. Take heed and don’t shoot the messenger. Crime does not respect politics!

    • Just like how the crime situation was up when murders shoot outs and the serial rapist was on the loose during the period of 2004-2014 my how we quick to forget

      • @ Amneisa, two wrongs doesn’t make it right – as Machell Montano sang, the (ABLP)🎶 ‘Party Done’ …

        • Really now. You come on here trolling this blog every and any post making it seems as if this crime wave started in 2014 when this has been going on for since the 1970’s But I see you don’t like to be called out on you hypocricy but do you see you are a well paid BLUE KOOL AID DRINKER.

          • Not really Amneisa, I just enjoy debating with “generational” ABLP supporters … it gives me a real buzz, because they never see any wrong doing in Gaston Browne’s 2 terms of governance.

            Quite hilarious really … 🤣

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day 👍

    • We have lost our way. We seek answers for our problems in the wrong places. We look to man’s philosophies for solutions when from the very beginning the solutions to ALL of OUR worries were presented to us in the instruction manual given by the CREATOR.

If only mankind would just take a serious journey into the book of life and seek to follow the instructions given for edification, rebuke, profits and correction. Yes, “IF”, that biggest little word in the English dictionary.

The TRUTH is we are so far removed from any connection with the Creator that our common sense is now EVIL. We used to say that we lack common sense. In reality, it is not lacking. Rather, it has been corrupted by sin and has become demonically evil.

The battle is raging for the mind of humankind. We see the great warfare for minds being played out on the world scene.

Anyone with any sense of proper reasoning will pellucidly realize that these are not normal times in which we live. I plead with the people to WAKE UP….. ARISE FROM THE SLUMBER. THIS FIGHT IS NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD BUT SPIRITUAL IN NATURE.

IT IS A FIGHT FOR THE HEART OF HUMANITY. WE HAVE TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR EACH PASSING MOMENT.

Just how easy it is to capitulate to evil impulses: Case for instances:

…. a young man charged with attempted murder of wife and in laws.

….. nephew accused of murdering his uncle on the fishery wharf

…… and we can list the many more.

If only, we would just seek guidance from the HIGHEST SOURCE OF GOOD and resist the evil impulses. IF ONLY !

Yes, if only. However, after the fact does not count. We must learn to resist the urges to carry out violence and evil acts. The evil actions are so simple to do.

The better way is more difficult, but we know what the outcomes would be also.

PEOPLE: I AM BEGGING US TO SEEK AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Bob Marley made a crucial mistake when he sang: ” Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds”.

That was deception at the highest level. The people continue to accept that deception even up to this day. It was the same deception that satan gave to Eve in the garden of Eden.

No, we CANNOT emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. We cannot free our own minds. The power to do these things is not within us but can only be obtained from the God of righteousness. Yet still, we have to make the choice to follow His way of goodness. He will NEVER force us.

The choice is ours to make.

WORLD “CRYSIS”: LAMENTATIONS: TIME TO TURN THE OTHER WAY AND SEEK RIGHTEOUSNESS.

  7. ABLP is on their way out,we as real born Antiguans won’t allow a man that is a LUNATIC spoil the future of our kids an ourselves……….Some of us as Antiguans join with Jamaicans an only see color and forget about ourselves,it’s so sad that we as a country prefer outsiders than our own country man…….Antiguans this election is all in your hands, show the world if we decide a better way of living or we prefer a LUNATIC government………….Watch how Barbados,st.kitts an other countries is developing more than the jokey ECONOMIC POWER HOUSE………..That is just a big joke like how the LUNATIC call himself……WORLD BOSS…………Haa big fool you’re gaston, put action just like how you can fling words………..You’re the worse government Antigua ever have in our history, good riddance to you and your joke gang in parliament……..OHH before I go,I dear you to announce the election date this month so we can prepare more for your surprise 😮

    • @ Jus a talk, we’ll said, the indigenous population has awaken to Gaston Browne’s mismanagement.

The Caribbean countries that you’ve mentioned always put their country folk first.

But thank God that Antiguans are now aware and realised that their lives and livelihoods hasn’t improved after 2 terms of poor governance.

As Machell Montano sang … 🎶 the ‘Party Done’!

  8. The crime situation in Antigua is getting out of control and people seem to be more concern about politics. God help us all.
