U.S. military forces operating under Operation Southern Spear have seized a motor tanker in the Caribbean as part of a campaign aimed at disrupting what Washington describes as illicit maritime activity linked to sanctioned Venezuelan oil exports.
According to a statement issued by U.S. Southern Command, Marines and sailors from Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a pre-dawn operation to apprehend the motor tanker Veronica without incident. The operation was carried out in support of the Department of Homeland Security, with interagency coordination involving the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Department of Justice.
U.S. Southern Command said the boarding team launched from the USS Gerald R. Ford, adding that the tanker was operating in defiance of a U.S.-imposed quarantine on vessels linked to sanctioned Venezuelan oil activity.
The command described the seizure as the latest demonstration of the operation’s effectiveness, noting that U.S. forces are seeking to prevent unauthorized oil shipments from Venezuela. The statement said the objective is to ensure that any oil exports from the country are conducted in a manner the United States considers lawful and properly coordinated.
Operation Southern Spear is supported by a broader naval presence in the region, including assets from the U.S. Navy’s Amphibious Ready Group. Those platforms include the USS Iwo Jima, the USS San Antonio, and the USS Fort Lauderdale.
U.S. Southern Command said the operation forms part of a wider effort to counter illicit activity in the Western Hemisphere and reinforce maritime security, working alongside U.S. naval and Marine Corps forces.

Cost of Gas prices in the Caribbean will be going up folks, because I wonder how many gallons WIOC have in their storage reservoirs, or are they going to keep the prices the same at the expense of their exorbitant profit margins?
Those cheap prices are gone with Maduro.
And don’t get mad with me, because the ordinary working class man in the Caribbean were not seeing the benefits of those cheap prices that WIOC has been getting from Maduro.
How a gallon of gas cost almost $7-$10US is beyond me.
How do people even survive in the Caribbean on some of these prices on goods is beyond my comprehension of survival.
The opportunity to live a good life should be a right, not a privilege, but when you have leaders capitalizing on these corrupt backdoor deals to get rich, well then, social empathy vanish in place of capitalism and greed!
The Caribbean is not a capitalistic economy or corrupt people by heart..hand wash hand right? We are ” friends to all and enemy to none right”?
Well where is that these days, not just in words, but in action?
Define your position as to what we carribean people are. Are we still our brothers keepers, hand wash hand type of society, or have we become the ravenous bunch as well?
Again, we shouldn’t just build to be progressive, but we should also build to sustain.
Where has our way of life gone?
Where is our backbone and culture, or am I just naive to think that we are not doomed to the plight of corrupt men.
And we blame and condemn the Somali Pirates for doing the same thing in their waters. At least they are doing it in their waters. The USA is a rough country and lives and operates above international law, with no one to ever condemn them for their actions. All we need to ask ourselves is,”When will they be held accountable? Or when will they stop acting like BULLIES. Being the strongest military power on earth demand restrain from oneself. Trump says it is his own morality that will stop him. God help us in this case. Because we have seen where his morality goes. He has none. As he once said, even if he shoots someone in plain daylight on the street, he cannot be arrested. I wonder if I should feel pity for the demonstrators in America for the treatment they are getting from their own military ordered by Trump. And they want to tell us that Maduro was a bad guy. Or that Iran is a bad place. Well I have no desire to enter the USA in these days, given how ICE and others are shooting armless citizens and claim to have immunity. License to KILL.
