Prime Minister Launches Monthly Public Walks, Expands Town Hall Meetings

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says his administration will host monthly public walks and expand its series of town hall meetings as part of a broader effort to strengthen direct engagement with citizens.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Saturday, Browne said the initiative, which began on Valentine’s Day with a walk through St. John’s, is aimed at maintaining closer contact with residents and better understanding community concerns.

“We’re here to serve, and you can’t serve people if you don’t know what the issues are,” Browne said, noting that dozens of people participated in the inaugural walk.

He described the outreach as part of a deliberate push to increase accountability and accessibility, adding that town hall meetings have already yielded practical solutions to issues raised by residents.

The next town hall meeting is scheduled for St. Philip’s North, following what Browne described as a well-attended session in City South.

The prime minister said the walks will be held at least once per month and are open to the public, including those outside of his political base.

  1. Good initiative. But like with everything, once introduced by a politician will only attract the party followers. What I would suggest to the PM is to either take it as an exercise for parliamentarians. And concerning your Cabinet Sir, please make it policy that Sir Molwyn Joseph through his ministry establish and implement a health program for all his cabinet members. The people of Antigua and Barbuda have a vested interest in the health and wellbeing of the Cabinet Members. Perhaps you should build a Gym or Health Centre for all Parliamentarians. Where they and their indirect family can go and exercise. We did had a scare once already when Sir Benjamin was not doing too well with his health. He needs to loose weight and exercise a lot. Strange I’m looking at politicians in the USA, Canada and Europe and I have not seen any of them looking unhealthy. Even when they are old. Trump and Biden are in their 80’s or close to. And he is looking much better than many of our politicians in the Caribbean who whenever they get elected get complaisant and lazy on the job.
