PM predicts “blowout” win for ABLP in St. Philip’s North by-election

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he is confident the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming St. Philip’s North by-election, describing the anticipated outcome as a “blowout.”

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM, Browne said the response on the ground has been “overwhelming” and signaled strong support for the party’s candidate, Randy Baltimore.

“I am confident that it is going to be a blowout,” Browne said, adding that the party’s mobilization efforts and community backing have placed it in a strong position ahead of the March 16 poll.

The prime minister said Baltimore has been active in the constituency and urged supporters to ensure their voter identification cards are validated ahead of election day.

Nomination day is set for Feb. 25, with voters in St. Philip’s North scheduled to go to the polls on March 16.

  1. It’s now long long overdue for the ABLP and Gaston Browne to humbled once again in a by-election.

Remember ABLP were truly humbled previously in All Saints West, before Browne’s mischievous underhand poaching of former UPP member Anthony ‘Destroy He Career’ Smith.

The country’s eyes and ears will be truly focused on the St Phillip’s North by-election. Because this is now more than a mere by-election between Alex Browne and Randy Baltimore of UPP and ABLP members respectively; but more of a preliminary judgement on whether or not the constituents of St Phillip’s North wants to send a humongous message to plant the seedlings of doubt to eventually end the 50-year-old Bird-Browne dynasty at long last.

Constituents of SPN, this is a RALLYING CALL.

The country is now relying on you to give this complacent HEBETATE Gaston Browne a devastating defeat at the SPN polls.

YOU ARE DUTY BOUND TO THE REST OF US…

May the Lord give you strength to do so 🙏🏾

  2. The nation is looking to the good people of St. Philip’s North to do what is right and just — to stand firmly against corruption, stagnation, neglect, and poverty, and to vote for meaningful change.

The resignation of the former Member of Parliament is welcomed. For fifty years he held the seat, yet there is little tangible progress to point to for the people of the constituency or for the protection and preservation of the environment. After half a century of representation, residents are justified in asking: where is the lasting development, where are the opportunities, and where is the vision that should have transformed St. Philip’s North?

Now is the time for renewal. Now is the time to elect a representative who will demand better for constituents — a Member of Parliament who will put people before party, who will stand up for transparency and accountability, and who will refuse to subscribe to any political dogma that places self-enrichment above public service. The country cannot afford leadership that encourages ministers to “enrich” themselves while the needs of young people are continually overlooked, leaving them feeling like second-class citizens in their own homeland.

The people of St. Philip’s North are called upon to take a bold and courageous stand, echoing the spirit of our national hero, Prince Klaas, who stood for dignity and justice in the face of oppression.

Exercise your democratic right. Vote against corruption. Vote against complacency. Vote against policies that have held the constituency back.

Send a clear and unmistakable message to the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party: the people of St. Philip’s North cannot be bought, will not be manipulated, and will not be silenced. Your vote is your voice — use it to breathe new life into your community.

Dear people of St. Philip’s North, be the whirlwind of change. Lead the way. Set the standard for other constituencies to follow. Show the administration that you are a people of integrity, courage, and principle — upright citizens determined to secure a brighter and more just future for yourselves and generations to come.

Your country is depending on you.
