VIDEO: Man stabbed twice during J’ouvert

A man was stabbed twice during J’overt celebrations on Monday morning.

Police are in search of the perpetrators. Part of the incident was captured on camera. It showed the man bleeding on both side of his body.

Persons in the crowd assisted the man before the ambulance arrived.

It is said to have resulted from an altercation as the band made its way through the streets on Saint John’s.

The man has been hospitalised in serious condition.

This video captured the moment EMS transported him to the hospital.

    Revellers were jammed into 8 block city area where there was wall-to-wall people.
    I wonder if that was such a good idea in these days of COVID

  2. Why stop the entire Jouvert over this incident?
    Will other incident(s) stop the entire Carnival/Bacchanal?
    I can understand, if there rioting, looting and shootings.
    Maybe, I’m missing some reporting details.
    I’m quite sure, that there were and will be other incidents throughout the rest of the #Bacchanal Season all the way to News Years Day.

    If, there is any form of violence in a Community during Election Day, will the Election be suspended, in that Community?

  4. Violence in Antigua has increased a lot and cancelling the event was a good idea to send the message this nonsense will not be tolerated. Also, GOVT needs to better screen new comers to the Island.

    • Four thousand illegals and still counting on the amnesty voters list, and you are saying that. We open our doors to any and everyone we can bribe to vote the Party back into power! Criminals are also useful in creating the fear element with theft, violence and rape. Remember the imported rapist with the list of names, who escaped to Dominica where he was killed with the list?

  5. My problem is when people walk with weapons to these places .. it means you’ve left your house with the intent to do harm .. the police and judges needs to take this into consideration and give these people maximum time

  6. That was always the rule and has been so a over 10 years now. One stabbing incident or someone getting injured badly like a truck running over someone and J’Overt or last lap over. It’s handed down to the commissioner of police to act decisively.
