ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission is urging eligible voters to replace expired identification cards, outlining the process, requirements and operating hours for registration units across the country.

The commission said registration units will operate Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., as part of its ongoing expired voter’s ID card replacement programme.

Voters are required to visit the registration unit in their constituency where their name appears on the register and present an expired voter’s ID, along with a valid government-issued identification. Applicants may also be asked to provide documents reflecting any change in marital status and proof of address, with residency verification subject to checks.

Officials noted that individuals who have lost their expired voter ID cards must present a valid government-issued ID to complete the process.

As part of the update, applicants’ demographic information may be refreshed, including a new photograph and signature, with fingerprint validation also conducted.

The commission said updated ID cards will be available for collection at the respective constituency registration unit within two weeks of application. Expired cards will be retained by registration officers upon issuance of the replacement.

The Electoral Commission has been encouraging citizens to complete the process as part of efforts to maintain an accurate and up-to-date voters’ register ahead of future elections.

  1. Mr ABEC head and all your trained attack dogs on democracy, the world is watching you.
You heard the leader say he sent people into Lovell constituency to help him lose and you all did nothing about it. If it was the other way around, would have been hell to pay.

ABEC has always been complicit in swinging the results of the nation elections in the ALP favour. It is still going on. Look at the mess in St Phillips with late voter cards and large scale treating. You all know that this is wrong and dishonest to give people cards on election day, just as the ALP knows it is wrong to register people in constituencies where they do not live. Don’t know how long you can continue to do this, but while the complacent UPP talk about what you are doing for every single election but is doing nothing about it, then you will get away with it.

But you have to look yourselves in the mirror and your conscience will kill you when you are awake in your beds before you fall asleep at night. God don’t sleep and he will judge you all and your punishment will be severe. Wait and see.

One of them there go way back and has been doing this nastiness for a very long time. He must know that the sings of the father are visited on the children. So let the chairman run around the world like wild geese telling people about how to run election and his office here is as dutty as ever. Everybody will remember him and his deathbed confessions will be painful.
You people have no morals. Remember Gas nah sleep.

  2. Who the hell cares except the Lickspittle Brigade. Election is a farce in Antigua and Barbuda. Since the ABLP elections have become a joke, we will bribe, transfer voters to select constituencies and brag about free and fair election, and be proud about it. Bullshit
