Vonel Valentine, a resident of Johnstown, has been fined $6,000 for surpassing the permitted number of cannabis plants and possessing an excessive amount of weed.
On July 1, law enforcement officers discovered 50 grams of cannabis valued at $500 and 39 cultivated plants valued at $2,000 in Valentine’s Potters home during a search.
Valentine acknowledged that the substance found in his living room chair was indeed marijuana.
He claimed that he only grows weed for personal consumption and as a stress-relief mechanism, citing his role as a single father.
Although reprimanded for possession, he received the heftiest fine for cultivating the plants.

Where in Antigua is Johnstown? I am from Antigua and never heard of it.
Welcome to the new Antigua. I hear about Johnson Village when in fact they are referring to St. Johnston’s Village. Someone came to my place of business and gave his address as Grace Farm. One gave his address as Attas and another gave his address as New Wintrups, Blizzard Village, Antiga. These people are all non Antiguans who don’t take the time to find out the correct spelling for their place of residence. Now Antigua Newsroom is writing about Johnstown. Please help us. These new Antiguans who are our “Caribbean brothers and sisters” are renaming our little island.
Imaging we are living in a system that makes a God created plant illegal , note this plant along with others boost the eco system and more while we are making 3 trees and 15 grams legal also not enforcing the smoking in public regulations hence creating so many health issues
I am from Skerritt’s pasture and I’ve always called it Johnson. Nothing to do with foreigners
When will this absurdity end .!! Penalized for possession of a plant? While those in high office tief and embezzle? Shame on you politicians for selling out to Yankee and big pharma. Legalize it..!!!
