Visitor Warns of Beach Thefts Following Valley Church Robbery

6

A tourist visiting Antigua has described being robbed at Valley Church Beach, prompting swift action by police who arrested a suspect within minutes of the incident.

The visitor reported that their bag was stolen last Tuesday while they were at the popular west-coast beach. Writing on social media, they said an orange Toyota Vitz was used as the getaway vehicle.

Although officers detained a man shortly after the robbery, the tourist said none of their belongings were recovered.

According to the account, the visitors were “the second tourist to have their bag stolen in 10 minutes,” raising concerns about a spate of thefts at quieter beaches frequented by holidaymakers.

Police reportedly searched the suspect in front of the victims, discovering another tourist’s wallet in his bag. That wallet was returned to its owner.

The tourist urged others not to take valuables to secluded beaches, saying they hoped their experience would help prevent similar incidents.

Local authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the arrest or whether the thefts are believed to be linked.

  1. It’s really simple all the feds gotta do is go transport board and pull up all the records of a orange vitz,,,cross reference who dem belong to and them address and target individuals from what would be considered high risk areas first and narrow down the search…then most likely u ga find the vehicle that did the work,,,then u ga find the person tht did the crime…it’s really tht simple to solve crimes in this small country

  2. When I was a taxi driver I would never leave a tourist alone on a secluded beach. I would invest my time in their security. I would make sure that I gave them a reason for staying with them. Even without charging them extra, they would sometimes pay me extra for my time and security

  3. I did inform the police this was going to happen and actions need to be taken. How many times I mentioned this scenario and provide a solution? It is really disappointing that I have to be right 100% of the time, which means innocent people are being harmed because I am not being listened to.

  4. This is an easy Trojan Horse operation for the police. Set them up with a white looking tourist with flashy jewelry and bags, then get in the bushes and make your move when they make theirs.

  5. This government makes more than a shed load of money when it comes to tourism. So I’m completely baffled as to why Max Fernandez and Colin James aren’t taking this growing menace of beach crimes a lot more seriously.

    Speak to Gaston Browne nah!

How on earth do these ABLP representatives keep their well paid jobs, when they cannot do their jobs properly.

Is this what ABLP really means?:

    Antigua
    Backhanders
    Love
    Payments

    MUST BE…😉

  6. The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crimes.
