
Villa Man Injured in Armed Assault on Hand Street
A 35-year-old man from Villa sustained injuries after being attacked by two armed men late Monday night on Hand Street, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred around 10:30pm on June 24 while the victim was seated on a street corner. Two men in dark clothing, reportedly armed with guns, approached and shoved him. A brief struggle ensued before the victim attempted to flee, falling and injuring his hand in the process.
The attackers then beat the man with their weapons before escaping on foot in a southerly direction. While nearby residents reported hearing gunfire, police have not confirmed whether shots were fired at the victim.
A search of the area failed to locate the suspects. The extent of the victim’s injuries remains undisclosed.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
