The main opposition United Progressive Party says police threatened to use tear gas on its supporters who joined candidates on a walkthrough of the St. Johns Market.
The police could not be reached for comment at the time of this publication.
The UPP says the unfortunate event happened after a campaign vehicle belonging to the Public Safety Minister passed in the area and saw the crowd.
A tense moment between police and UPP supporters was caught on video.
