As the road resurfacing continues, traffic crashes will rise as well (note I didn’t say accident, because many are avoidable).
Hopefully, as I’ve mentioned before the government must now put out more public information messages for all drivers to take more care, pay attention and slow down.
And if those hard of hearing and the ignorant do not take note, then this government must place speed bumps on all newly resurfaced roads.
They must start being proactive to start saving the lives of the innocent…
Speed vumps arent needed. Tickets are needed, constant surveillance and multiple stops by police daily is needed. Tickets for speeding, tailgating, tickets for infringing on the other side whole someone is coming. Tickets like its candy on halloween. Tickts tickets and more tickets. When you pay you feel. Me guess police too busy to do them job

The drivers in Antigua just too damn dunce and thinks speeding is great driving. Not a fan of this Administration but I do not going to blame the government one bit. Even if the drivers damage themselves by driving stupidity I would charge and even jail them
I drive from county to town every day and the amount of idiotic driving I see is unbelievable, sometimes I think these people leave their homes on a mission to kill with the reckless overtaking as if no one is supposed to be ahead of them
Critical thinker you are so correct- not speed bumps but speeding tickets. These days the police bikes and Vechicle are mostly used as escorts in front of funeral and sports teams. Started with cricket but these days sports of all types and teams at all levels are escorted by police bikes mainly. I heard they are making a decent charge off the funerals . Tell me when was the last time you saw a police on a highway with speeding gun and one further down or up the road to stop and change. I personally have not seen one for a few years, despite the increase in serious traffic accidents and deaths.
Last week I saw a group of them , like they were on training on bikes . That is the most police on bikers I have seen in Antigua. So I hope we utilize them properly and that includes road safety patrols. They must be also well armed and patrols in pairs, with back up cars available. They are going to also encounter the criminals- the robbers/ thieves, the drug dealers, rapist and all sorts of criminals. The more reason to be out there on patrols I pairs and have backup.

At this point, we either need to leave the roads in bad shape or line them with speed bumps because these drivers we have out there really lacking in any kind of sense.
Everybody is always in a rush to go everywhere. No one wants to leave with ample time to arrive at their destination. What are we in a rush to do? Kill ourselves or someone else?
Have you ever seen a car on top a hospital bed or at the funeral home?
The law MUST allow or amended, to allow for the collection of blood and urine samples from the drivers involved in serious accidents to be analyzed for drugs (legal/illegal – alcohol is a drug too); whether someone is injured or not!

This can be a huge money making affair by the police traffic department, but it’s either they are too lazy, their speed meter reading devices are not functioning, a traffic department that’s ridiculously short on vehicles and officers. So much bad driving and speeding in Wadadli, with nothing structurally put in place to manage it, so accidents such as this will continue and sadly fatality will rise.
