Kelvin Simon Leads Call for Justice in Police Shooting of Kahleel Simon
Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South, Hon. Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, has renewed calls for justice following the fatal police shooting of Kahleel Simon, describing the incident as a tragedy that demands accountability and truth.
In a statement shared Friday, Simon said Kahleel’s life “was taken far too soon” and that his family, friends, and community “deserve justice, truth, and accountability.”
He joined residents and supporters at a community protest, where participants called for transparency in the ongoing investigation and for greater police responsibility.
“Today, we stand together because this is bigger than one person or one family,” Simon said. “It’s about the value of every life, the safety of our neighborhoods, and the responsibility of those entrusted to serve and protect.”
Simon said the show of unity reflected the community’s determination not to let the matter fade. “We will not forget, we will not be silenced, and we will continue to demand answers,” he added. “Together, our strength grows. Together, our call for justice echoes louder.”
The MP said the case underscores the need for public trust and transparency in law enforcement, insisting that fear, injustice, or indifference should not define the community’s future.
The investigation into the fatal shooting remains ongoing.
