So, the government is already at a negotiating disadvantage, citing the lack of manpower to do the job they need done, while seeking fiscal advantages from those who could get it done?
This is an example of why we won’t see the diaspora back anytime soon. Especially when there are those within the organization netting more than market value, for less practical reasons.
You are pulling out all the stops. Must hand it to you. You are a great salesman but we ain’t buying
More bullshit to cover bullshit. And you want professionals in the diaspora to return to your bullshit. Gaston you are beyond crazy now. How many clones do you have?
There’s nothing to add to these comments. I will just echo; “Gaston you are beyond crazy now”.
They need to show they honoring contracts before us entrepreneurs empty promises.
This is an admission of failure on many levels.
It is also illuminating the political system of politicians acting as overlords on matters in which they are not trained.
It displays the ignorance and lack of understanding of what and how Government should work.
These are capital projects that the requisite Minister of Government with deep knowledge of national budget planning in coordination with other ministries.
The Country should have an appropriately 10 year capital budget in which national goals for development are presented by the government planners in conjunction with the local urban designers.
That is the process for major redevelopments on a national basis.
It should not be that every want to be “politically ambitious person” arrange for 20 yards of concrete to be spread out for sidewalk repair.
Capital projects of development and repair should come out of long term planning by Cabinet.
Those proposed developments become the basis of a 10 year Capital Budget and incorporated into the annual budget presentation.
Of course these 10 year capital budget projects are tweaked as needed.
Projects should not be presented as political proposals, but long term national and regional development planning.
The current approach being taken, is being presented as politicians promising something of value to the public.
Until the political class in the Caribbean including Antigua and Barbuda recognize its role in government; which among them is to prepare and train support professionals; and employ them in an equitable manner; they will migrate to places where they are treated as professionals.
The presentations and discussions about the upgrade of St. Johns is a prime example of how not to run a country.
One week it’s the so-called ” brain drain” and the next, it’s, let’s make an effort to give young talent a chance.
This damn inept government is so out of whack that it’s becoming vomiting.
Which one is it GB, that the diaspora should come back home because of the ” brain drain” or that you should really put more emphasis on the talent you have home?
Make up your damn mind, because people have shorter lives these days.
😂..what a real joker and failure Antigua has as their leader.
This bipolar administration has to go, they are like the Florida weather to backside.. 😂
