This implementation whereby this Government Administration will be making the cost of O’Levels, and by extension tertiary education in due course, FREE to all students in the nation of Antigua & Barbuda is DEFINITELY a move in the right direction.

I vividly recall back in the mid 80’s I had to drop a number of my O’Levels after fully preparing for them simply because I had nowhere to turn to for the additional funds to write them.

It may take being able to relate to abject poverty on a personal level, to fully comprehend this concept, but thank God it’s not where we came from, it is our final destination that truly matters.

Now, all students have to do is to make sure to take full advantage of this manna from heaven opportunity, because many students and parents/guardians will now be divested of that mental burden of having to procure funds to sit exams.

Further, with this wonderful & visionary move, it can be predicted with reasonable certainty, that the level of education amongst students in the nation of Antigua & Barbuda will increase significantly. The importance of leaving school with at least six (6) O’Levels is crucial if one wants to matriculate to higher education or even get a good-paying job.

What Serpent did to that constituent of his by publicly shaming her for requesting help with CXC payments for her child was one of the darkest days in politics in the history of Antigua. He could have just said no without embarrassing her.
