Prime Minister Gaston Browne has fulfilled a pledge to the Bethesda Sports Club with the donation of a driver-operated lawn mower, easing long-standing challenges in maintaining the village playing field.
The equipment was officially handed over this month by Lynnette Thwaites, an administrative assistant in the Office of the Prime Minister and a Bethesda native, who presented it on his behalf.
Browne’s promise came earlier this year during a town-hall meeting in the community, when club president Anthony “IRoots” Martin raised concerns about the upkeep of the field.

The prime minister responded by committing to supply the mower.
Club officials — Martin, Vice President Dale Lawrence, Coach Howard Warner, and Groundsman Kenneth Charles — accepted the donation and thanked the prime minister, saying the mower will significantly improve the condition of the facility for both players and the wider community.
The Bethesda Sports Club has long been recognized for its role in nurturing young athletes and promoting community engagement through sport.
Members said the new equipment will allow them to continue that mission more effectively.
