   The fact that you keep expecting that sand can hold water is baffling to me. Let me say it again..Gatson Browne has no true or pure motives when he speaks, none. In fact everything he says should be looked at for its element of manipulation. This man cannot be trusted to lead and definitely not to appoint anyone.

   What you should be looking forward to, is the removal of this man from office, and run from anything this man touches, both verbally and personally, but you guys continue to think that this man is of sound motives and will be the PM of Antigua forever.

5. I hear you @Islanman26, but having to live here in this beautiful island with a vindictive leader running my country. I do try to bring some sort of political balance – though very difficult at times.

   There seems to be a ABLP crisis every week.

   I agree wholeheartedly that Gaston Browne should be nowhere near being Prime Minister here. But we are unfortunately where we are.

   Hopefully, the tide is turning and that the law abiding citizens will at the next General Election vote Gaston Browne and the ABLP out of power for good.

   There is definitely a groundswell here that this is going to happen. So in the meantime, I’ll fight the good for change, for my children and future generations to come.

8. Isn’t this political interference? Openly calling for the appointment of an individual based on what appears to be a gender preference. She is so qualified yet the PM says that training is needed to correct weaknesses, how strange?

9. I do not care if you are male or female or white or yellow or pink but as long as you meet the regarous requirements that the position demands I am in support of you for the position. I do understand the need for it to be a local person who understand and is part of the society you are policing.

As my friend Pompey will say “what the hell” no person shall be made to qualify for a position base on their genital parts, you are either qualify or you are installed as a marionette, think I heard of this lady before, but we live in a patriarchal society, would she be able to stand up to a foul mouth prime minister? her late counterpart Elton Martin use to get a volume of expletives every morning at 5 am during his briefing to the late prime minister Lester bird.
    A woman is different than a man, the lady commissioner we had in the late Delano Christopher endured a lot until she eventually had to leave, no woman is going to sit each morning and be emasculated and infantilized with a flurry of expletives giving briefing to a prime minister daily.

14. I am totally confused as to what is the main issue here, so often our views on a topic is based on politics, nationality or even gender as in this case. It is a known and established fact that Mrs Quashie is well qualified and experienced for the job. With all the comments I have read none has recommended anyone better suited for the job as normative thinking would dictate. The management of the police force requires leaders who are fearless, non partisan, has integrity and commands the respect of their pairs, the citizenry and even the criminals. Congratulations Mrs Quashie.
