PM Agrees St. Mary’s South Viewing Stand Taking Too Long
Browne Promises to Intervene and Ensure Completion “Within the Shortest Possible Time”
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has agreed with St. Mary’s South MP Kelvin Simon that construction of the St. Mary’s South playing field viewing stand is moving too slowly, pledging to personally intervene to accelerate the project’s completion.
During Thursday’s sitting of the House of Representatives, Simon questioned the Prime Minister about the long-delayed facility, noting that with just two months left in the year, it appeared unlikely that the field and viewing stand would be finished as previously promised.
In response, Browne said he shared the MP’s frustration over the delay. “I don’t have the precise timeline, but I share your concern,” he told Parliament. “The viewing stand should have been completed by now.”
The Prime Minister said he would ask the Minister for Rural East to investigate the contractor responsible, emphasizing that there was no known issue with payments and that work should have progressed further.
“I don’t know why the process is going so slow,” Browne said. “To the best of my knowledge, the payments have been made as requested, and it’s either that contractor ships up or ship out.”

Browne added that while ongoing rainfall may have contributed to the delay, he would make it a priority to ensure the stand is completed “within the shortest possible time.”
“It’s not rocket science to do a plain stand,” the Prime Minister said. “I will follow up personally to make sure the contractor speeds up the work.”
The project, which includes a viewing stand and upgraded playing field, is intended to support local athletes and serve as a key recreational space for the St. Mary’s South community.

They are stealing the materials and funds which are causing costs overruns. Monkey see monkey do. All of these projects to include the hundreds of millions spent on these roads been washed away by a few well needed showers of blessings.
Mr. PRIME MINISTER while looking out for the SMSC It would be great if you could look at the condition of Blackburne Park in City West constituency in Villa where you are the Parliamentary Representative
That will be done soon. Election is not too far off
Very nice layout and great subject matter, hardly anything else we require : D.
