Pit Bull Attack Victim Shabo Nedwell Attends UWI Graduation, Receives Standing Ovation– CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHAT’S APP GROUP
Less than a week after surviving a brutal pit bull attack, 27-year-old Shabo Nedwell made a courageous appearance at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus graduation ceremony on Saturday, where she received her diploma to a standing ovation.
Nedwell, who recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, attended the ceremony in a wheelchair with her face partially covered. Her presence drew an emotional response from fellow graduates, faculty, and dignitaries, including Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his wife, Maria Bird-Browne, who joined in applauding her strength and perseverance.
Family members say Nedwell insisted on attending the ceremony despite her injuries, determined to mark the completion of her degree.

Last week, she was attacked by four pit bulls while visiting a family home, sustaining severe injuries to her legs, hands, and face. The incident prompted widespread concern about dog control and public safety in Antigua and Barbuda.
At Saturday’s ceremony, Nedwell’s appearance became one of the most moving moments of the event, symbolizing resilience and courage in the face of tragedy.
