  1. What is the official language of Ghana? English
What’s the official language in Cuba?
Spanish .Is this lady verse of global affairs, geopolitics or history??

  2. Is she for real? Their official language, like Antigua, is English…. Like MISS! Think before you chat. Do wan Google search! Yes, there’s an issue but this backwardness is not it

  3. 5 P’s. Proper preparation prevents poor performance. Come on Pearl, you need to research and prepare better before giving a speech like this. 30 seconds on Google would have told you that education in Ghana is in English. We want you to do well but only you can put in the effort. Prepare and be better informed.

  4. What? Have this read a single book? I haven’t seen anything this wild and Ignorant out of someone mouth for a while to be honest. But the rest is speech I dont mind the alternative she said and questions she was asking, I have to deduct points for that quote though.

  5. Pearl “FOOTS” Quinn continues to be an embaRASSment to her family and the UPP. Poor Steve.

  6. Well maybe she is saying there can be confusion. Take for instance. Suppose one of our local nurses working aalong a Ghanaian nurse and our local nurse as the Ghanaian what is the patient blood type and she responds “AB+ Ooooooooooo”!!!. See the confusion?

  7. @. Nurses from anywhere on earth will have nuances in the way they speak.
Pearl just proves that many of the UPP will oppose anything for opposings sake. The UPP needs to attract viable candidates.

  8. Ghana’s official language is English. They also have a minor language called Pidgin, which is very similar to our local “dialect”. They will be fine.

  9. Pearl Quinn the issue is deeper than just language. It’s the CULTURAL DIFFERENCES, of everyday communication(s) which will be more-so disruptive to the already fragile and fickle work environment (some claim it’s a hostile work environment) which already exists.
What will rear its ugly head, and it’s probably already being discussed among the local staff are…

1…pay rate/pay scale of the Ghanaian Nurses!

2…the other perks and incentives such as travel, housing, meal and other allowances provided to the Ghanaians to travel to Antigua, Barbuda & REDONDA, as traveling nurses.

Ghanaians are being outsourced all over America, Canada and Europe, as PROFESSIONALS due to LABOUR SHORTAGES in these Nations.

Pearl do your research, or put your brains in gear before your let certain sounds out of your mouth.

The present Ruling Arm of the Government caught between a rock and a hard place due to pressure from the US STATE DEPARTMENT. Their other option would probably be FILIPINO NURSES, and this would sent the EMOTIONAL METER for ill informed Antiguans into the stratosphere.

  10. Barbados has over 200 nurses from Ghana. Pearl Quinn has demonstrated that she is a dunce. End of story. And she has also shown us what she thinks of her own colour. Black must be at the bottom of her social scale. But also remember that she was one of the first bleachers in Antigua, long before it became a trend.

  11. This is absolutely embarassing!! What makes this worse is that she is reading from her notes. So even with research, she has everything so wrong. We moved from Cubans, who speak spanish to Ghanaians who speak english and the questions is asked, how are we going to deal with the language barrier? We been dealing with the language barrier already anyways, so if there was one, we would deal with it. BUT THERE IS NONE!!!

  12. “Is there going to be a language barrier? Who in here can speak Ghanaian or whatever they speak?”. Pearl, Ghana’s official language is English! How embarrassing! How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you don’t know something like this? There are Ghanaian nurses and other health care professionals throughout the US and they do just fine with communication.

Pearl, you have a lot to learn.

Ras Smood, you bring up some good points.

  13. So because “Barbados” has over 200 nurses from Ghana, Antigua needs nurses from Ghana as well?

Is that what we’re doing now, piggybacking off other Governments policies?

So Antigua’s Government do not have a defining position of their own?

I now further see why 32% of Antigua is made up of none-nationals, and it has cause a massive language and cultural barrier already for the Antiguan people.

So yes GB, just bring in more out-side nationals to solve our issues.

How is that working out so far?

Do y’all know that these people have families, friend, and a life that they are beholden to back in Ghana?

Nothing against any one, black, white, or yellow, but we are opening up a can of worms here..we already see it with the Antigua Airways debacle.
The nurses might be very sincere people, but who are connected to them?

    Think people, think.

This might be what Pearl wanted to say, because she’s not in the position to say it, but I am.

  14. @isalanman. More than 50% of Antiguans were born in the US. They are Antiguans by descent. So they also bang water.

  15. @Otto
We are talking about immigration laws, not charity.
So I don’t know what point you are trying to make here. Are you saying this is an extension of charity to the Ghanaian people?
Well that will be insulting to them if you ask them.
Antiguan’s go to the US to better their lives, Ghanaian’s are not coming here to better theirs, so would they assimilate, no. Two different things.
Many of the non-nationals who are in Antigua, do not assimilate to anything Antigua, go ask the Spanish people if you think I’m lying.go ask the Jamaicans if you think I’m just talking.

And Antiguan’s have not changed US culture one bit in the US, but the 32% of none nationals who are in Antigua certainly has.

We are talking, culture and immigration policies here.
And no, I didn’t bang water to come over to the US from England, my world beater attitude has blaze my path, because indeed the world is mine..but that’s just me.

  16. Many people, not all, missed the point Pearl was making, although it was quite obvious. The concern is that the Government, in its usual style, has not been forthcoming with information on this issue. And wherever there is secrecy in what is supposed to be a transparent environment, it creates room for anxiety, uncertainty, and speculation. All of this could simply have been avoided if this Administration were more transparent. So, Pearl’s knowing, or not knowing, effectively, and perhaps masterfully, dramatically demonstrates the very point she’s making: that communication and clarity are of necessity in matters of national interest. The absence of this gives rise to even the wildest assumptions and mischaracterisations.

  17. I can see we look at what pearl saying. But no one see anything wrong in this country . the simple distractions can make you forget no water nah run for wash your clothes and the road dark and you forget potholes burst your tire or your front ends gone. Lets stop major in minors cause the nurse and them can come and then go bout them business like the previous African brothers and sisters.
