A gold Honda Fit that reportedly ran a red light at the Harney Motors junction grazed a white Subaru before colliding with a male motorcyclist on Factory Road. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries, while both female drivers were unharmed. Police are investigating the incident.

  1. Isn’t it ironic that the very vehicles we constantly see causing accidents—the “Fifth” and the “Beats”—are the ones overtaking recklessly, running red lights, and creating chaos on our roads every day? These vehicles are a major reason for the rise in traffic incidents across the island.

    Yet when it comes to accountability, the government raises license fees by 40% for the general public, while only increasing the fees for these high-risk vehicles by a mere $100. How is that fair? Why should law-abiding citizens and other vehicle owners suffer such a steep hike, while the smaller ones contributing most to the danger on our roads get off with a slap on the wrist?

    This kind of leniency sends the wrong message. We need fairness, accountability, and a serious look at who’s truly driving up the cost—both in money and in lives.
