Firefighters Battle Major Blaze on Upper North Street

An elderly resident of St John’s has been left homeless after a fire tore through his wooden house on North Street at midday on Wednesday.

Fire crews reached the scene within six minutes, but the single-storey dwelling was already engulfed in flames and collapsed into ashes.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
