  1. Smokes and Mirrors!!!

Who owns all dem cement up in the warehouse by Coolidge that’s being sold to Public Works. that came from Venezuela in breach of regional trading arrangements? A the same smaddy whose name is not being called that’s behind the chain gang. The Black Hadeed. And he is allegedly partnering with you on that deal. Stop with the sanctimonious pretense!!!

  2. I totally agree with the Honourable Prime Minister. No one should be allowed to run any government institution for more than ten years. When leaders, and I dare say politicians too, are in charge of anything for more than ten years, then they begin to run it as their own “kingdom” and complacency and smugness takes over and all manner of evil happens. It’s also a way to ensure checks and balances are in place and maintained. The same persons are in charge of several Statutory Bodies since Noah built his Ark and this can’t be good. Noone is invincible. Change is a must and we must embrace change as a means of good governance and accountability.

  3. THIS IS A SETUP!

DONT hide behind no presence PM BROWN! If you were worried about succession you would put someone to work under them until the lady retires in 3 years.

What you really want is to have someone down Nelson Dockyard you can break the rules and regulations with so you can build your Casino! Which is AGAINST THE RULES FOR A WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

You are too conniving and evil and you oppose anyone who calls you out on your wrong. You won’t control her! Go take a seat somewhere

  4. Move them around like it’s musical chairs so the beat goes; so that those that has been “dumb down” thinks that action is being taken.
While those who enjoy the pervasive graft and corruption can be assured that more things change, the more they remain the same.

In the US this past weekend their were marches and demonstrations of NO KINGS for their are to checks and balances.
In Antigua and Barbuda you have a “KING” in your Prime Minister, who controls all branches of government.
His former Minister and colleague that went against him is now in his grave.
No other Minister in his Cabinet can politically survive going against him.
He controls the Legislative Branch the (ABLP) members of Parliament where he holds a majority as well as the Cabinet: The Executive Branch.

He controls the third arm of government. The Judiciary through his Attorney General as well as Police and The DDP.
The recently appointed DDP was selected by the AG and is in the fold.
The poor long and suffering Acting Police Commissioner will never be able to have the honour of being The Commissioner of The Royal Police until he has proven himself as a loyal player.
This scandal provides an opportunity for Acting Commissioner Jeffries to make the case of what side is he in. The side of Justice and good government or just another political hack.
Will he call for a Commission of Inquiry and ask others to join him?
The Ecumenical Commission: will they retrieve into the woodwork? As they normally do when they feel their largesse could be st risk?

  5. @ Audley Phillip,
Gaston is playing you and others like a drummer playing a group of drums.
Moving people around like musical chairs perpetuates the problem. This is not a system that needs band aide.
It needs to be dismantled and rebuilt first the size of Country we are and the fabric we are part of such as the OECS and CARICOM.
In a world of generative Ai this can be done within a short period of time supported by outside institutions that are experts in governance and institutional management.
To agree with what Gaston is musing about is to support a corrupt system that is making eyewash moves that hardly changes anything
This is not just an incident of individual corruption it’s institutional corruption.

  6. High time! Fully endorsed! If people woulda jus’ do dem jobs with integrity, people wouldn’t have to micro-manage dem.

  7. Mr. PM do not Talk the Talk, but Walk the Talk for once. It is not now we have been saying this. When you leave persons too long in their position they build little kingdoms and believe they are king indeed. And I have learned that no one is indispensable. I for one have indicated this in several department where I know and believe as part of Good Governance you should have rotate the persons long time. A government term is five years. Why then would you allow a person to stay in a position longer then that one term. two to Three years should be more then enough. Just the other day we saw the rotation of the Chinese ambassador. They do this to ensure no person get to settled in their position and start to build a little kingdom. And if I were you I make it a law. Not just your government policy. And again I will point to your blue eye boy at Social Security. He needs to be replaced like yesterday. You do not have a clue what really is going on in there. You take about the purchase of government vehicles. Have you check what policy they have in Social Security. The Board was shocked when the Director last year bought a brand new Pick-Up from Hadeed that he had no Board Approval for and neither was that a budgetted line item. But he is untouchable because of you. So all the noise you are making you have brought this all on to yourself. When the top slack, the middle and bottom will drop off. If I were you I would not accept the resignation from Mr. Buddo. I would let him come back and clean up the mess and perhaps then he may leave. Antigua is to ancestious and we will always have a family, friend, or close acquintance in some place. Boddu has no such connections and can therefore work more honestly on protecting the country’s revenues. Please consider this. Custom is our main Income Stream. Look at our history of Compgtrollers and see if we didn’t have bobol eversince. Except for Mr. Brown the previous comptroller I think all were in some way corrupt. And wasn’t it Mr. Buddo whose work allowed you to purchase WIOC for far less than was ask for. Boddu has expose many illigallity within the Custom Department and many would like to see the back of him. I guess you have now allowed them to get rid of him and the flod gates will be opened.
Investigate what really when wrong. Hire an outside firm such as Grant Thorton or BDO or go to the Cayman Islands and bring in outsiders like Earnst and Young. It is better to spend the money now, then to put your trust in the same people that were part of the system that is now exposed.

  8. After 11 years, are you telling me that it’s really now this man is trying to be the prime minister of Antigua? Well we all know where he’s been, Absent!!!

Shouldn’t these things been done from the inception? You are finance minister for crying out loud..This got to be a joke?
This government has been inept on everything since day one, and look where we are now.

Criminals everywhere..both on the streets robbing everything they can put theirs hand on, to the crooks in a 3-piece suit and police uniform.

  9. Nepotism & absolute power also becomes very prevalent on the job when these heads are in office for a very long time
