Education ‘Changed My Life,’ Says Kiz Johnson as She Launches Constituency Scholarships
Senator Kiz Johnson says education has been the driving force behind her personal and professional development, as she announced the launch of a new scholarship programme aimed at expanding educational access for young women in St. Philip’s South.
Speaking during an appearance on the Morning Pointe show, Johnson said four young women from the constituency have already been selected to receive scholarships under the initiative, which she described as her first major constituency project since entering representational politics.
Johnson stressed that the recipients were chosen through a structured and competitive process, rather than personal selection. She said a scholarship committee was established to assess applicants’ readiness and commitment to furthering their education.
The successful applicants are enrolled in courses at the Lifelong Learning Unit at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, where they are pursuing studies including project management, strategic planning and human resource management.
Johnson said the programme is intended to run on a quarterly basis, allowing additional residents to benefit as it expands. She described the initiative as an investment in people rather than a one-off gesture, noting that education played a transformative role in her own life.

If she was not running on ABLP ticket I wonder if she would. Oh yes I’m the great pretender, living in a world of my own. What a timeless song by the master Brook Benton
You were an independent senator for three years.
Wasn’t there a need for scholarships then?
Is it all of a sudden like a lightning strike all labour candidates have seen the light and need for education and scholarships?
What is the party that you have become a part of putting in place for those scholarships recipients for after they have completed their studies?
You were a virtually unknown.
Yes, you probably have made a lot of money at West Indies Oils.
You have responsibilities.
Are you so well off that you can undertake to fund four students through university?
Where did the moneys come from?
Is it being rerouted from the treasury?
Are you now a part of the cookie jar enrichment plan and gang?
To what value are you sponsoring those scholarships?
And finally, my friend, would the Integrity Commission being an objective body find any fault between your expentlditure and your income????
@ Straight Shooter
