An Antiguan patient has spoken of the life-changing results of cataract surgery performed at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC), saying she now sees the world “in a whole new way.”

Jenifer Jacobs, who recently underwent the procedure, shared her delight at the outcome. “They say I have 20/20 vision — I don’t know what that mean but me glad for it!” she said, expressing her gratitude for the smooth process from start to finish.

Hospital officials highlighted Jacobs’ story as part of efforts to raise awareness about the benefits of cataract surgery, which can restore sight and significantly improve quality of life for patients living with clouded vision.

SLBMC continues to expand its ophthalmology services, offering advanced surgical options to residents in Antigua and Barbuda who may otherwise have sought treatment abroad.

  1. That is so thought full of this one woman to give thanks. One would wonder where are the other thousands that have had the same surgery and been given sight. Are they so ungrateful. Well well well. I keep saying ungratefulness is worst then Witch Craft. They will find out for themselves. Even when Jesus was healing many, only one man came back to thank him.
