The Honorable Baldwin Spencer is a gentleman. He is respectful and humble and loves the people of Antigua and Barbuda. These days I see him attending funerals of everyone despite of their political affiliation. He is aging gracefully.
Politically speaking George Whenner has been one of the most loyal persons to the Hon. Baldwin Spencer. So I think if there is one person that should endorse Wheanner should be him.
I don’t think it will make a difference to the outcome of by- elections to be held on January 14th 2025. it’s my belief that it’s concluded even before the first vote has been cast. That Turner will win hands down.
This has nothing to do with the candidacy of George Wheanner or his likability. St.Peters has always been a ABLP strong hold. Only Asot with his ABLP background, people person and very very deep pockets could have upstage someone running on an ABLP ticket in St.Peters. The UPP party has imploded and continues to dig themselves deeper into quagmire.
It takes a lot of bravery to contest this by-elections on the UPP ticket.
I don’t think Hon.Jamal Pringle or Richard Lewis are nearly ready to lead this country. With some more maturity I would still prefer Pringle over Lewis. Lewis carries a pompous, selfish type of character and I am normally a good judge of character.
So unless a leader arise in the UPP like a Dickon Mitchelle of Grenada- Bright, articulate, charismatic , with great leadership qualities, I will stay with Pringle.
The ABLP continues to regain ground because of their handling of the economy. If the infrastructure continues to improve there will be no safe seat for the UPP or BOM Barbuda the next elections. Pringle and Lewis will have difficulty regaining. Especially Lewis. Walker could be in trouble as well with the growing Barbuda economy and influx of people that can change the demographics. With a good candidate in St. George Serpent gone. Think Randy Baltimore is going to upstage Alex Browne. He is popular and has financial backing both family and personal.
If the ABLP can get a good candidate to go up against Bowen, someone like a kiz Nathaniel – popular, educated, charismatic, people person she can take that seat. Not only take the seat but can become a leader and first female PM . Chet is older than Gaston, Dorrel Mathew is lazy, Maria Browne is only riding on Gaston strength.
Dave George is not a good candidate and will not beat Shugy. Johnathan has an outside chance- heard that the ABLP is thinking of running Dr.Philmore – that will be a step in a backward direction. Anyhow Gaston is always looking for quality candidates.
