When we have reached to this stage where we have to hire people to watch senior customs officers and others, we are really admitting to a complete failure of the system which has totally broken down. We are literally hiring rats to watch cheese. I am not sure that it will solve anything. For too long we have encouraged a system of “get rich quick” with very little system of accountability built in to the operation. So Senior officers of Government can bank roll huge sums of monies over and beyond what their salaries allow and it is a normal run of the mill. That is why integrity in public life laws are important and a must. Every penny that goes into public officials bank account must be carefully scrutinized and accounted for. We have allowed and encouraged public officials to use the systems of Government to their advantage and many have seen opportunities beyond their main salary earnings and have grab the opportunities. We better get back to the basics because as it stands now, ALL FALLING DOWN.
