Road concreting underway in Lightfoot as MP outlines infrastructure push in All Saints West

Road construction is underway in the Lightfoot community as part of a broader infrastructure push in All Saints West, Member of Parliament Anthony Smith said in an update to constituents.

Smith said the long-standing lack of infrastructure in Lightfoot, a community he noted has existed for about 45 years, is now being addressed through road concreting and related works.

“Lightfoot is a community that would have been around now maybe just around 45 years and without infrastructure,” Smith said, adding that tackling such deficiencies remains his central focus as the area’s parliamentary representative.

He said crews are constructing concrete roads designed for durability, with layers poured several inches thick to ensure longevity.

“These are the farm plies. And then we come and we pour the concrete six to eight inches thick so you can have a proper road that will last for years and years to come,” Smith said.

The MP acknowledged longstanding concerns raised by residents, particularly regarding road conditions and drainage.

“I completely understand our cry for infrastructure,” he said, noting that road and drain improvements were consistently identified as top priorities during constituency outreach.

Smith said similar needs have been identified in other communities, including Oliver’s and Buckleys, and indicated that work will continue across the constituency as resources allow.

“We see the areas, we understand the cry, and we are going to be fixing the roads in the constituency,” he said.

He added that the works are being coordinated with public works officials and will be carried out in phases, with ongoing communication to residents as projects progress.

  1. Surprise surprise, especially with a General Election on the horizon. However, after Anthony Smith’s shocking and astonishing desertion of his constituents in All Saints West, he’s going to have one hell of a job to recapture them again.

Smith could even handout turkeys, hams, and even offer free VIP tickets for fete or dance, and he’d still lose in ASW.

One thing we Antiguans can’t stand is disloyalty.

ABLP may be odds on to win the General Election overall, but winning the UPP stronghold and bedrock of All Saints West is another thing, and Smith (and to some extent Browne) well an know this.

    “PIECES OF EIGHT … “🦜 💰💰💰

  2. Bull crap the Government and public Works not Anthony Smith. I realize ANR wants to give him the credit but we are not that stupid. ANR is really becoming sickening now. Smith is a traitor, trying to elevate him ain’t working he is in the same company as Benedict Arnold
