The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, has held a meeting with Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, to discuss regional stability and security concerns.
Officials described the discussions as “constructive,” focusing on the current geopolitical situation in the Caribbean and Latin America. The leaders examined various threats they say could undermine the peace and security of their nations.
No specific agreements were announced following the talks, but both sides emphasised the importance of collaboration in addressing shared challenges in the region.
Mr Browne has previously highlighted Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to regional diplomacy and dialogue, while Mr Gil has called for stronger cooperation among Latin American and Caribbean countries to safeguard stability.

The meeting comes amid rising concerns about political tensions and security threats across the region, though both officials expressed optimism that continued dialogue could strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation.

This is confusing, I do agree with PM brown alignment with Venezuela a multipolar ideology who nationalized their resources to help the entire Caribbean, but his so call opportunist ambassador Ron saunders is getting some sort of award from Ukraine who is partner of the ethno supremacists club, that’s Ron feathering his nest while his loyalty should be Antigua’s interest, oops! I forget Ron saunders is a Guyanese, and this is not even his correct name. And only a black nation and leaders could be infantilized by Ron saunders, he can’t represent any white country as ambassador. He knows that ALP and their leaders need white validation to function internationally.
This meeting is really about the US troops /military in Venezuela territorial waters right Gaston Browne. Well Cockroach don’t have any right in a fowl ( Chicken)pen. Grenadians already loosing visas. KEEP OUT !!!!
The Antigua air force which consist of two planes loaded with dry coconuts is able and ready to assist Venezuela against any U.S aggression……Our commander and chief The HON G.B will be leading the charge
@Elread.. “He knows that ALP and their leaders need white validation to function internationally.”
WORDDDDD!!!!!
The USA is hellbent in creating regime in Venezuela, even though elections are called each time and foreign observers have been invited of which Antigua has always send theirs to represent. And each time the foreign observers have declared the elections to be free and fair. No violence as we see in some parts of the world. But we all know it is about the control of the oil. And now it is Guyana’s term. In order to stay in control of Guyana’s oil they are putting their finger on the scale in favor of the current government. And the opposition member have been intimidated to the point that they cannot even have a bank account. This is open bullying of an independent country. Telling them whom they should elect as their leader. I hold my breath for the peace of the region. Because all this will lead to lots of unrest. And who know how this will effect our economies. Let us all pray to our Lord and Gid to preserve the peace in this side of the world. The Modus of Operandi from the US these day is,”if you are not with me, you are against me”. My friend should be your friends and my enimies should be your enimies too.” What a thing.
Caribbean leaders are caught in no man’s land. Òn the one hand they would love to openly support Venezuela because as in the case of the OECS, they all benefit from oil and gas at concessionary terms under the Petrocaribe initiative. By the same token, they cannot be seen to be against the United States because the threat of retribution would hang dangerously over their heads. Though they are all almost against the militarization of the Caribbean waters, they have to bite their tongues and remain silent and neutral. On the surface Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister was perhaps the only bold one to come out and openly support the US and it has put Caricom in a tail spin. Privately they all think she is an as$ to support the US in their militarization of the region. It’s not an easy thing when you have to sing for your super though. You are dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t. So Antigua and Barbuda, like most other Caricom countries, remain silent though not necessarily neutral
What does the government say “Friend of all enemy of none” I see a hands off approach. This is a very tricky position to be in right now.leta not pick sides but rather call for a peaceful resolution
