The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda reported that Carnival 2019 was a general success and an almost incident-free celebration. Barring reports of vehicle break-ins and larceny prior to and during the carnival celebrations, there were very few major incidents of crime directly associated with carnival 2019.
The police believe that the overall outcome is as a direct result of the cooperation and support received from the general public during the planning stages, through to the implementation level for a number of activities.
Acting Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney is pleased with the general outcome, and has expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Festivals Commission, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, Emergency Medical Services and the organizers and promoters of the various fetes.
Mr. Rodney also highlighted the invaluable support he received from the men and women under his command, as well as the members of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, who all went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and security of both residents and visitors to our shores. He also praised the media for the integral role they played in getting the message of safety and security across to the public.

FOOLISH THANKFULNESS – FISH TALKING OR FISH DANCING?
Those studying the planets, ‘…Stars; …Moon; …Sun’ often found that the ‘…Constellation is out of Alignment.’
Similarly, it can be said that people often put their ‘…priorities in the wrong order.’
Never knew that the ‘…general public’ had assisted in planning to the implementation level of police operations for ‘…Major Events’ [Paragraph 2].
Do not believe that the Acting Commissioner saw this apparent ‘…Fish Talking Press Statement.’
When ‘…profound gratitude’ is expressed to ‘…Government and its agencies; …Events organizers; and …Fetes promoters,’ and ‘…highlight is expressed of ‘…invaluable support of police personnel and Military Aid to Civil Power,’ one is either ‘…Fish Talking or Fish Dancing.’
Never knew that more than one man could write such ‘…Foolish Thankfulness.’
It begs the questions;
(i) ‘…Who policed the carnival events?
(ii) …Who patrol the streets thronged with people?
(iii) …What was the law enforcement role of the agencies singled out for ‘…profound gratitude?’
What is universally known, and was also known within the national Police Service, ‘…profound gratitude’ has always been expressed to rank and file officers who, along with other members of the Security Forces (Military), had worked tirelessly, and had performed their duties to the best of their abilities.
Not Governmental agencies or events organizers and fete promoters. No Sah! Only Police and Military.
SECURITY & SAFETY should be EVERYONE CONCERN NO ONE WANTS TO GO ANYWHERE WHERE THESE ARE HIGH RISK …..IF CARNIVAL PATRONS VISITORS TOURIST DNT FEEL SAFE they the fetes tshirt mass jouvert mass which are heavily supported and financially depended on SUFFERS TREMENDOUSLY….. as i watched various media outlet streaming and videoing i was very happy to see a strong POILICE & DEFENCE FORCE PRESENCE….. KEEP IT GOING AND KEEP INPROVING
No one wants to go to any country where the issues of security & safety is a HUGE RISK FACTOR….the fetes ….tshirt mass and jouvert …monda& tuesday mass are heavily dependent on tourist and returning Nationals who look forward to carnival every year…
So security & Safety should be a HUGE CONCERN
I thank the excellent work the men of Antigua police force are doing to reduce crime in the country.l have strong belief the organized crime can also be stop with Zero tolarant of crime.Antigua police have done marvelous work.God bless you the head of Police for keeping Antigua.the eternal God bless you and keep you strong for the rest of your career..
