VC Bird International Airport marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month this week with its annual symposium, themed “Standing Strong, Standing Together Against Breast Cancer.”
The event brought employees and health advocates together to discuss prevention, early detection, and community support. Dr. Monica Osborne-Stevens spoke on lifestyle habits, emotional wellness, and life after diagnosis, while airport naturalist James Luke highlighted the role of nutrition in strengthening the body’s defenses.
Breast cancer survivor Melinda Williams shared her personal journey, emphasising the importance of early detection and support networks. Motivational speaker Koren Norton also encouraged attendees with a message of hope and resilience.
Airport management said the symposium reflects its ongoing commitment to employee wellness and public health education and pledged to continue hosting the event annually.
