UWI Principal Awaits Budget Presentation to Address Key Economic Issues
Professor C. Justin Robinson, Principal of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, is keenly anticipating Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s Budget Presentation on December 5.
Speaking to state TV, Robinson highlighted Antigua and Barbuda’s robust post-COVID recovery, which has now begun to moderate. He expressed interest in measures to sustain economic growth and reignite momentum, emphasizing the need for policies to enhance tax buoyancy, improve public finances, and reduce the government deficit.
Robinson also underscored the importance of aligning fiscal and monetary policies within the Eastern Caribbean and leveraging opportunities in the blue economy to build a climate-resilient future.
“How are we building that new economy of the future?” he questioned, as the nation awaits next week’s budgetary roadmap.
