Ca’Jauna Lee, a graduate of The University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus, has shared her powerful story of perseverance, motherhood, and academic excellence as part of the university’s Graduation Stories series.
Lee described her journey at UWI as one defined by endurance and resilience. What began as a three-year programme became four after she became a mother — a moment that briefly paused, but never stopped, her academic goals.
“Motherhood is a powerful proving ground for resilience,” she said, noting that balancing parenting, full-time work, and studies was one of life’s toughest tests. With determination, family support, and disciplined time management, she not only completed her degree but did so with First Class Honours.
Her success, Lee said, is a testament to the power of persistence. “Hard work truly does pay off,” she reflected. “This achievement shows that success isn’t about having the perfect situation, but about refusing to let imperfect ones define what we can become.”
On October 11, 2025, Lee proudly crossed the graduation stage — calling it one of the most meaningful moments of her life, as her young son cheered her on from the audience.
