The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus is set to introduce five new undergraduate programs by September 2024: Psychology, Sports Coaching, Sport Kinetics, Pharmacy, and Generative Pharmacy. Dr. Adeola Matthew, the Recruitment Officer, expressed excitement for these offerings.
The expansion includes a full degree in Psychology due to the growing prevalence of mental health issues. Generative Pharmacy, incorporating Artificial Intelligence, addresses the shortage of pharmacists and enhances pharmacy practices.

Great that UWI is expanding it’s programme offerings. Not sure if I completely trust AI to decide on medication for me with all the crazy mistakes that technology sometimes makes, but UWI has high standards so I’m sure their graduates will be well-trained to handle it. Five Islands has a lot of cutting-edge programmes, but of course, our people also need knowledge in a lot of traditional areas as well. Looking forward to a good useful mix of programmes for society in the long term.
And Thank the UPP government for building the Five Islands School complex that the government huffed and turned into a university.
