A visiting American is offering a US$500 reward for information leading to the recovery of a cat that was accidentally released near the Crossroads Centre in Willoughby Bay, according to animal welfare group Paaws Antigua.
The organization said it received a call Tuesday morning from the visitor, who had completed all required paperwork and made arrangements to take the cat to the United States. A mix-up, however, resulted in the animal being released before travel plans were finalized.
Paaws posted the case on their social media and said the visitor had bonded with the cat and is “heartbroken” over the incident, describing the animal as having “built a home in his heart.”
The group believes the cat was released somewhere in the vicinity of the Crossroads Centre and is urging residents in the area to remain alert. Anyone who spots the cat is asked to call 268-784-5151.
If the cat can be safely caught, members of the public are encouraged to do so. If not, Paaws Antigua advises callers to keep the animal in sight and contact the organization immediately so arrangements can be made for recovery.
The organization is joining the appeal to the public to share the information widely in hopes of reuniting the cat with its intended owner.

F that cat .. invest the 500.00 for a really cause like helping a human ..the world has shifted so much people love animals more than people.. gays more that straight people.. white more than black people.. ..things have changed…
@NO LOVE FOR THE ABOVE Who stopped you to use your money for a “good cause”. The same right you defend, it apply for everyone, you can’t dictate how others should use their money, you can’t impose what is a Good cause in base of your moral standards. DO what your preached. Start yourself fighting for the good cause you want. Donate one day of your salary per week to help a human in your community. Buy a food for them, look how many women without houses are in Antigua. You can go and buy 2 or 3 times per week lunch to them and invite others to follow you. But don’t come with this hypocrisy that others love animals, or others love more white people, or gays, so stop judging. You are the representation of a culture behavior, when things don’t go the way you like “Pull up the racism Card”
No F you! You sound backward and illiterate. Because someone cares for a pet doesn’t mean they love animals more than humans. Your comment shows who you are. Do better!
Come on people, the easiest $500US you will ever make in your life..look at it that way.
To hell with all the negativity about who a person should spend their own money on.
Help find that cat and get paid..simple.
I’m a practical person, not an idiot.
