A visiting American is offering a US$500 reward for information leading to the recovery of a cat that was accidentally released near the Crossroads Centre in Willoughby Bay, according to animal welfare group Paaws Antigua.
The organization said it received a call Tuesday morning from the visitor, who had completed all required paperwork and made arrangements to take the cat to the United States. A mix-up, however, resulted in the animal being released before travel plans were finalized.
Paaws posted the case on their social media and said the visitor had bonded with the cat and is “heartbroken” over the incident, describing the animal as having “built a home in his heart.”
The group believes the cat was released somewhere in the vicinity of the Crossroads Centre and is urging residents in the area to remain alert. Anyone who spots the cat is asked to call 268-784-5151.

If the cat can be safely caught, members of the public are encouraged to do so. If not, Paaws Antigua advises callers to keep the animal in sight and contact the organization immediately so arrangements can be made for recovery.
The organization is joining the appeal to the public to share the information widely in hopes of reuniting the cat with its intended owner.
