The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening commercial relations with Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in the energy sector.

In a congratulatory message marking Antigua and Barbuda’s 44th anniversary of political independence, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington values its partnership with the twin-island nation in advancing both regional energy and security goals.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” Secretary Rubio stated. “We remain committed to working with Antigua and Barbuda to strengthen commercial ties between our two countries, including through partnerships in energy.”

He highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the United States and Antigua and Barbuda under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative, which focuses on combating illegal arms and drug trafficking, curbing illegal migration, and disrupting transnational criminal networks.

Rubio said the US sees the growing partnership on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a model for the region that will “lead to not only Antigua and Barbuda’s energy security, but also new commercial opportunities between the United States and Antigua and Barbuda.”

The statement follows recent developments in the energy sector, where American company Eagle LNG has partnered with the Hadeed Group to establish a new LNG power generation plant at Crabbs. Senior US official Michael Kozak previously visited the site in June and expressed Washington’s support for the project.

According to the US Secretary of State, the collaboration reflects a broader goal of deepening economic cooperation and building “safer communities and greater opportunities for all our citizens.”

  1. We are smiling with everybody because we are going to throw out Maduro…So make the little islands happy just as we did in WW2….Supply them with things and use their islands as bases just incase we have to stay in the region longer than expected…Brilliant!!

  2. I warned GB to take a stance for who he sides with, but this joker won’t listen.

You can’t keep toeing the line GB, because now is not the time to be a weakling. America wants it’s pound of flesh from Maduro, so you better act fast and wisely.

That foolish statement about ” we are friends to all and enemy to none” cannot fly anymore, nope.

So you better wake up for the betterment of Antigua going forward for your next three years in office. Even though I know you’re incapable of listening to wise people, please get off the fence and walk with someone, but you must make a choice.

My advice is to choose the US over Maduro.
The US is the lesser of both evils. Plus Maduro is cornered and soon to be assassinated.

Just facts sir..it’s hard to hear, but it’s the reality we are in. Trump ain’t backing down from no one..I don’t like the man personally, but in spite of his bluster, I know he is no dictator, why, because the American constitution will never allow such.

  3. Ok! I got it, Gaston express his concerns to rubio about the aftermath of his support for American invasion of Venezuela, and Rubio and the trump administration assured him that they will give economic support in the energy sector, losing Venezuela concessionary energy sector could bring economic hardship by the ending of Petro Caribe concessions the Caribbean and Antigua enjoy under the Venezuela chevez administration now managed by Maduro.
It is quite clear that there is some kind a substantive military agreement that Gaston agreed with america against Venezuela, also If you look closely there is talk of accepting Mexican workers to come Antigua to work, this could well be a facade for accepting deported Mexicans from the USA for a largesse the politicians will pocket on the heads of the unsuspecting citizens, so Gaston must come straight on what he was paid to do by the Americans, it won’t end well for him.
