Antigua’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, has announced that the US has lifted its sanctions on the Alfa Nero, enabling its potential sale.
Recently, the Alfa Nero came under the ownership of Antigua and Barbuda after being seized by the state.
Previously owned by a Russian billionaire, the vessel was subjected to sanctions by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

I wish my Country,Antigua and Barbuda well in this matter.I do hope it works out well,in the End.
Great news!
Waiting for the next shoe to drop!
Kudos to our government. Let the dogs keep barking while the wagon moves on.
@ Sidelines: Those to whom you refer as dogs are your Citizens. They do casts their votes in your Elections.
Well said @ wanna bee, we may have our political differences, but to descend into castigating fellow Antiguans is just plain wrong.
There is a big difference in referring to someone and using a”saying”. If you do not know what the saying means look it up. I never referred to anyone as dogs. Even though they act like one.
“History (or progress) moves ahead, no matter the criticism it may attract.”
And “there is a big difference” in many of the correspondence on here that you don’t want to acknowledge @ Sideline – and we know why.
Patriot Antiguans support the community, the country and want to see improvements in our infrastructure and health system.
Whereas you support only Gaston Browne, come what may … there’s the difference, we patriots promote and want the best for Antigua & Barbuda, and you support a man over what’s best for us. Weird!
*Patriotic [second paragraph]
Brix, we have been there before. You make unsupported allegations. You are the one that cannot see anything good the man does. I have publicly criticized his handling of Statutory Corporations. Especially Social Security. I have warned him that when the shit hits the fan, he is the one that will have all the eggs in his face. I have suggested that he start bringing all the accountants or CFO to cabinet to report on the finances. I have lots of experience sitting on boards, that you just cannot trust management. They will always tell you what you want to know. When you hear it straight from the accountant without their Manager/Executive Director being present, they will tell you all. One time Gaston promised to have Lennox Weston look into the books of Social Security. But that never happened. And then there is the miss-management of funds at National Housing. Contractors steal everything they can from their jobs. A house that should cost $200K will cost $300k. Workers that know me have confessed this to me. You have some contractors build private homes with materials from National Housing. All because of the absence of weak systems of control. So, for once stop saying I agree with Gaston about everything. But yes, most of his policies I agree with. And if his policies were not good for the country, you would never see such growth in the country’s economy. And you need to start speaking truth to power. You judge a General Manager’s performance by the profits of the company, and you judge a Prime Minister’s performance by the growth of the economy. And that is so in every country. Whether Big or small. And do not be like the other dunce people that ask why the people are not feeling it. I have already explained that when a company’s profit increases it doesn’t automatically mean that the staff is getting a higher salary. So too when a country’s economy grows it doesn’t mean that the citizens start making lots more money. It just means there is a lot more business going on. More goods and services are being offered. And yes, it takes special policies to ensure the country’s wealth is spread more evenly. But we all know, and we have a saying Money seems to go where money is. In other words, the rich will always get richer. That is a worldwide phenomenon. I wish we had statistics that would tell us how many millionaires we create each year. And how many people have entered the middle class? Before the Income Tax they said we have 75% of the working population making less than $3000k. That was the reason to not tax that group. We need statistics such as these to be made public each year. The Statistic Department does have that data. Somehow, they do not share it. I usually get my information from the CIA website. All Investor would go to that website to find out how Antigua’s economy is put together. If their is great poverty or not.
OK! From The Sideline, you’re hereby declared and knighted as Gaston’s Shit💩Eating Bitch – who is always in heat sucking his dick!
Imagine an Economic Powerhouse Government, playing mercenary and waiting for the sale of a confiscated vessel to pay its salaries, wages and other debts. They are as broke as Joe Turkey Cock.
Before we get all excited, slow your roll.
WHO DID WE HEAR THIS FROM? When did we hear this?
From a question asked in Parliament? Don’t you think we would have had the braggadocious news earlier if this was so?
Wait to hear it from somebody else. Somebody with a truthful, undeceiving tongue.
Yep sidelines the wagon does move on. Must be something to be negative on the country of your birth. I can understand not liking the government in office, but at the end of the day why would you not want your country to progress? Anyway, happy we have some legroom to now deal with some outstanding issues
@check Google, spot on. I believe absolutely nothing this idiot says. When I see an official document and announcement from US officials, then I will see. This clown lies so much, he has no credibility and must resort to criminals and nefarious characters for potential investments.
I wonder how the oligarchs are taking this? Are they going to just sit back an watch their prized possession auctioned of ? Word is Gaston Clown is prepared to sell out the buyers to the US. Lets just watch this space.
Are you going to change your name to Doubting Thomas?
Proof Mr Prime Minister, proof!!
Thank you Sir Ronald Saunders for your work
