The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations to help an officer who was seriously injured in a traffic accident.

In a public notice, police said Sergeant Jeffery Benjamin, badge number 568, was struck by a Mack truck on Friday, 3 July. He is receiving treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and is in urgent need of blood.

The force is asking members of the public, regardless of blood type, to donate blood at the hospital’s laboratory as soon as possible.

Officials said all blood types are needed and will be greatly appreciated, stressing that each donation could help save a life.

The Royal Police Force thanked members of the public for their support and urged anyone who is able to donate to do so without delay.

The appeal comes as Sergeant Benjamin continues to receive medical care following the collision. Police have not released further details about his condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

  1. What kind of blood type he need??? All the times we listen for the same message without describing type .. if 10 people went in to Donate ..why they take all and make the human being alive…so,what they do with the other type of blood don’t match from the primal needed??? You sold for other well being buyers??? Or what that hell you never give accountability from how you SHARE the exceed?.

  2. Using the need of blood for one patient, as a way to replenish the blood bank is just sick. It also gives the impression that they’re hoping the general public is stupid. Do better hospital!
