Alex Browne, the United Progressive Party Candidate for St. Phillip’s North, is lashing his opponent – Sir Robin Yearwood, the Minister responsible for the Antigua Public Utilities Authority and the provision of water – for Government’s continued failure to provide adequate water on a daily basis.
Browne, who is also the Party’s spokesperson on water issues, says that promises made by the Antigua Labour Party (ALP) seven years ago have failed to materialize.
He recounts a promise by Sir Robin to fix the then water issues within 14 days of taking public office; however, the situation, in some persons’ estimation, has worsened.
Browne says that, come next election, Sir Robin will be held accountable for his unfulfilled promise, which impacts everyone, including farmers, and therefore threatens the country’s food security.
The UPP Candidate also references the recent fire in Seaview Farm, where a house was burnt to the ground. Neighbours could not make even attempts to put it out, since there was no running water in the village at the time.
Browne notes that, in spite of the installation of a number of reverse osmosis plants, the water shortage continues.
He says enough has not been done to tackle the issue, since both the APUA and Sir Robin have pointed out that millions of gallons are wasted through leaking pipes each day.
Although the Authority has sought to replace the old metal pipes with more durable ones, leakage continues in those areas where the pipes are yet to be changed.
Meanwhile, Browne says Sir Robin should be sacked for his failure to rectify the water problem, as he promised on the campaign trail. (REAL NEWS)

This water problem should be top priority.
if the goverment has money to burn over at LIAT and to claim to want to buy out digicel/flow then this MUST be resolved before the next election. Even if they have to outsource the desalination plants again they need to get this done. Heads need to start rolling at APUA
So you ah d wata man?
OK, Happy you pointing out the BIG LIE. THEY call it politics. Say whatever LIE, LIE LIE. Then call the next man a liar and the blame game. Anything to get the vote then skip town. I’m now 62 years old and I have never had running water in Johnson village. I come home and in the middle of the night me and my guests have to go to a drum to get water to flush. This is abject failure. HOWEVER, me na hear nar see the UPP plan YET! No government can claim success without water. Skip a turn. What does the bible say about a written plan?: Revelation 1:19
Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. The plan must be in writing so we can read and understand, Doth saith the lord.
Is Alex Browne an EXCESSIVE RUM DRINKER?? IF so, will he lay off the rum IF elected so that he can make wise decisons with respect to the water challenges?
Alex Browne, is mere cannon fodder. Old rotten pipes are being replaced with pipes that are corrosion resistant. Mr. Browne, trust that before the next election. Robin (Sir) will ensure the old pipe issue, in that area, is a thing of the past. Alex also will be forgotten after the 2022 elections
A big chunk of his family lives in that very constituency and I can guarantee that they will NOT be voting for him.
I do not know him but I know what I was told about water in 14 days. I actually believed that sh*T. I am tired of the BS. I do not appreciate anyone telling me something with the intent to deceive. DISCLAIMER: I do not give a damm which party is in power. When I come home I would like to wash my donkey. I got stuck sick as a dog in the back parking lot of the hospital and when the intern bought the wheel chair there is no ramp, a hospital. Lots of little stupid things. Water is essential to good health. All the excuses in the world and praises for mediocracy. I’m 62 and we have NEVER had running water everyday sometime for weeks. I will vote in Antigua for the first time next time and it will be for the person who can show me a water plan in writing. NO EXCUSES!
Alex chat so much CRAP on Observer RADIO a few days ago I wonder why the UPP attracted so many DUNCE Persons. I spoke with some of Alex Family and They would NOT be voting for Aldx.
@ P. HARRISON – So many intelligent people in the ALP government but they are doing nothing to advance Antigua and Antiguans. What amazes me is how you educated people have nothing negative at all to say about the foolishness that the ALP government is doing. People like you will just accept whatever they are doing, lap your tail and vote for them again next election. & You so educated!
Always stand ready to criticize he who wants better for Antigua and Barbuda because in your own badminded educated mind only labor party can run the country.
@ANUAN
You are as DUNCE as ALEX. SHUT UP.
Robin Da Hood is another piece of sheet that robbing Antigua and get knighted for doing just that. That cow feces hasn’t done sheet for Antigua from back then, you expect the garbage to start doing something now?
Alex sounds like he moved back to Antigua some time after 2014. The water problem existed while UPP was in power and they couldn’t solve the problem then. What has changed?
ALP campaigned on the promise that they would fix the problem. If anything, the problem has gotten worse. We are caught between a rock and a hard place. ACLM used to say, “Sungoo na betta dan Lungoo”
What was their performance concerning the water situation where was the big talkers back then it was terrible check the history before being critical
Alex…..Why didn’t you answer the question by Darren Matthew-Ward ( If you took a poll ) ? I will answer for you. Alex you know that you are polling at 5%….We do not want ALEX BROWNE ( RUM DRINKER ) IN St. Phillips North. Go and hide your face. You are too DUMB.
ALEX THE WATER MAN ? UPP cannot attract proper Candidates ?
